USDM ECU would work, but no vtec. Like Mario said, USDM ECU's look for VTEC pressure switch.. JDM ITR motors dont have that on their VTEC solenoids.

solution: get USDM VTEC solenoid, or tap into your JDM VTEC solenoid.. or get a JDM ECU

i'm running a USDM P73 with my JDM ITR
cause i used orginal GSR harness which was OBD 2.2
and the JDM P73 ecu was OBD 2.1
couldn't find a harness..didn't feel like hard wiring so got a USDM P73.

Will this hurt the performance of the engine? if so..how? and how do i fix!
Still have the JDM P73 Ecu sitting in my room.
Got around the ICV, knock sensor, second O2, and VTEC oil pressure switch..
was a bi***

I dyno'd both on a JDM B18cR. The blue graph is the USDM ECU; The Red graph is the JDM ECU. I was running a stock B18cR with AEM CAI, JDM R header and Comptech exhaust with a Carsound cat. There was very little difference in the numbers but the JDM ECU did yield a little better power. You can see the spike where VTEC kicks in at 5800RPM.

Since my pic isn't showing, at least on my end, the US ECU was 178.3whp and 126.1wtq and the JDM ECU was 178.9whp and 127.7wtq. Very little difference felt on the butt dyno as well. The drastic diff was when I switched out my AEM CAI for my stock box. The stock box robs a lot of power.

**** it's not coming up. If anyone wants to host the dyno email me at garylee333@yahoo.com and I will send it to you. Thanks!

I actually had the crank fluncation sensor swaped out of GSR onto the JDM..
stupid I know; but the people that did the swap didn't know much and that
was there brillant solution.

i don't see why not.. the crank fluctuation sensor should be your only issue.. you can either get one and put it on, or get a JDM ecu..

ok cool. Well I already have the USDM Ecu. So I am trying to get it to work. For some reason it will only let me rev to 6000rpms would that be because I don't have a crank fluctuation sensor hooked up?
thanks

that i don't know, but it could be a contributing factor..

is the CEL on? check the code if it is.. this could be some sort of safe mode limit, if it is on..

well I just spent 150 on a usdm ecu. Do you know anybody selling a JDM ecu cheap or someone that wants to trade plus I will give some cash too?
Thanks

i'd run a jumper harness and a chipped p28 will solve everything.
along with a usdm vtec solenoid if your motor is jdm.
