Recommend me a good All Season tire for a 99 Prelude
Hi,
I just bought a 99 Prelude that has summer tires on it. That's great, except that I live in the north east. So what all season tires would you recommend for the Prelude?
(Yes, I know I can get a set of winter tires, etc...but I want all season tires.)
Oh, and here's a picture of my new baby...

Thanks in advance

What kind of conditions is the car going to see?? like multiple inches of snow, just rain/wet roads?
If just rain/wet and minimal snow, and you want decent performance I would run these.
Falke Ziex

You can pick up the 205/50/16 for ~70/ea. These would not be reccomended in actual snow...ie sticking to the ground, but if the road is just wet these would do fine.
I recently picked up some Hankook IceGaurd's for the Mrs' Lude.. I believe they were 205/50/16 or 205/45/16 but now I can not find them...You could call discount tire and have them find em.. The were also about ~70ea
If you see lots of snow you could run these

They are a bit taller than stock..205/55/16. but are fairly cheap @~70ea. Keep in mind they are only T-rated which is 118mph
anyhoo here is a whole bunch of other tires if your car is going to see lots of snow.

Lastly these are what came w/my Lude when I purchased it, they absolutley suck performance wise, but did ok in the snow/wet

Azenis+snow=bad.
Even in rain the Azenis are iffy, but as long as you drive conservitavley you will be fine.
Here's a pic of my Azenis off the Lude, and Im sure you can figure out why.
You were probobly thinking about Ziex's which I listed above

D'oh...those are the tires that came on the car! I feel dumb, I just figured they were summer only tires because of always having heard of Falken Azenzis...I just associated them with each other. Dumb of me to do that, but I just picked up the car yesterday and I have yet to learn everything about the car! Thanks for all the info on the tires! And I can't believe they're so cheap. I just paid about $120 per tire for my 15" wheels on the Integra before I got into an accident.
And thanks to those for the compliments on the car. It has about 69,400 miles. It's in pretty good shape...paid $10,800 for it (not including taxes and all that crap)...so I think I got a pretty good deal. I'm already starting to like it more than the Integra I had.

Well..they are a High Performance tire, w/all season capability..
Don't expect them to do much in any type of snow, but wet/minimal slush should be fine.

I think that the only true all season offered in our size (205/50/16) is the stock Bridgestone re-92. And they basically suck for dry traction. I up here in NY and i run snows and summer. You will have a MUCH better driving experience with the 2 sets of rims... Oh yea get your rims on the correct side of the car
Looks really nice. Enjoy the car.

For a northern climent tire, he is going to want a tire with "sipes" in it. Those are the little tiney cuts in the tread block... That none of the performance tires carry.
The sipes are what give you that traction in the winter. good luck.
