Default Question regarding odometers

Is it possible to change the actual odometer out of my ITR cluster and put it in something else, a Spoon cluster for example, to legally show the actual milage of my vehicle. And if I do, would it continue to read in miles or would it read in kilometers. I'm in the process of purchasing a Spoon cluster for my R and would like to keep the original miles as accurate as possible, any help is appreciated.

yes, (I think) cause you can swap needles and stuff too. depending on what cluster you put in will it read kilometers or mph

But my biggest concern is that with a Spoon cluster the odometer may no longer read in miles, and start reading in kilometers which is precisely what I'm trying to avoid.

The thread from earlier is what inspired this post. As nothing illegal is done if the original odometer stays in the car, how can you keep the original odometer (if it reads correctly) with a different gauge cluster? And yes, I searched.

Sorry my appology. I didn't fully read the post. My bad

Dunno if it's legal, but yes, you can. You can swap the the faces by removing the needle and gauge face and moving it over.. however.. the needle will point to whereever the stock MPH is which wont match the spoon cluster's gauge face at all I wouldn't think. You could swap the whole gauge but that would look pretty ugly.

So I guess i'll have to check to see how well the stock cluster and the Spoon cluster match as far as speedometer increments. Sounds fun. Thanks.

mayve there's a way to keep the itr "motor" thing that tracks the miles.. and you can just put the "Face" of the cluster on?

Here ya go, this is the way to replace the odometer into whatever cluster you choose. I would do the step about driving, to best insure propper calibration. Be careful, stuff is fragile in there....

That's what I've been thinking, but I don't know if the motor is somehow connected with the speedometer, because if it is, then the whole idea won't work, but if the odometer motor is independent of the speedometer and continues to roll in miles rather than kilometers, then it would work.

Maybe this can help, it doesn't really specify if they are connected, but does give a better understanding of it al. Good luck

Kilometers!
Come on, and get real!?!
If the Speed is calibrated in KM/Hr, so will be the odometer.

Ed, unless i'm misreading again, he's asking about taking out his stock gauge and swapping faces. In which case, it's most definately setup to read xrpm/mph, not km/h. How "off" that will read against the gauge face when swapped, I have no idea.
