How to stop my antena from working??
Hey guys, I know this sounds weird...but I no longer want my power antena to work. I listen to my CDs 100% of the time and since it is Winter I don't want to burn out my antena motor.
I checked the fuses and did not find any under the hood or in the driver's side foot area fuse box.
Any ideas where i need to disconnect the antena??
Thanks

So should I just unplug the antena plug behind the stereo???? I thought the antena was operated by the power wire???

The power wire powers the head unit and not the antenna. I believe cars with power antennas have a separate power source within the antenna wire that connects to the head unit.
I used to have an Integra which has a power antenna as well and that's what I did.

You could also unplug the power to the antenna in the back. It is easy to do. Just remove the inner panel on the inside of the trunk and unplug the wiring harness to it. I did this to my girlfriend's accord and my brother's integra since they were broken and only made noise. Also, most newer cd players now only tell the antenna to go up when the radio is on.

cut the P. Antenna out from your radio. If it's a factory radio, just use a meter to find which wire only shows +12 when the radio is on, and shows nothing when the radio is off. I'm not talking about turning the radio on and off with the key, i mean turning it on and off by actually pressing the power button on the radio
on my aftermarket stereo the antenna goes up only when i select the am/fm and it stays down on cd. and i dont believe there are any other wires off the deck to tell the antenna to go up or down.. so if you unplug the antenna wire from the deck or you can also unplug it the same way from the antenna its self ... i would unplug it in the trunk just pull back the siding and reach inside below the antenna and pull the wire, its not hardwired, its just plugged in like on your deck

that's weird, i installed an aftermarket radio and
mine stays down, i believe there is a yellow wire
that says power antenna on it

My older deck did exactly that - only pulsed the antenna line when the am/fm was on. Now my new one pulses the thing when power turns on, so the antenna goes up whenever I drive (unless I turn off the deck).
The remote antenna wire on the back of the raadio is the one to remove to stop it going up - also removing the harness at the base of the antenna works.
Wow I didn't contribute anything original huh.

on aftermarket radio's the signal wire that sends the antenna up is either a blue wire or a blue with a white stripe. On the factory Honda radio's, you'll have to do as I listed above and find the wire that shows +12 when you hit the power button on the radio to turn it on, and shows nothing when you turn the radio off by the power button
Yeah there is a plug in the trunk. Very easy. It will take you all of 10 minutes because you have to take the jack out... then pull back the lining...
I wish mine worked. It does every once in a while. I didn't listen to the radio for almost a year then one day I wanted to for some reason and it wouldn't work. Next day it worked on my way in to work. At lunch it wasn't and hasn't since.
Don't the 5th Gens have the antenna in the rear window or something?
I was thinking of shaving my antenna and making one that I could put in the bumper since that's just plastic... Seemed like a lot of work for the few times I would use it.... I love MP3 players

MP3 deck is definitely where it's at.
But when I'm changing CD's the radio switches on to 790AM (and that's the only time I use the antenna).
Hey at least your antenna is down, I've seen some that aren't working, and are sticking up in the air while the car's parked.

Yeah, its pretty easy to find. My antenna broke 4 years ago, it would just click, and pop for 15 seconds after I shut off my car. I ended up yankin the motor out, and leaving my antanna up all the time.. You know, for that Super Ghey Look
