Default Quite a Few Questions About Acura's 3.2 TL

I already searched, but didn't find any information on my dream car.

I'm not feeling the 04 models at all, plus they're expensive, but those are the only ones I've seen in a manual tranmission.

Did the 99-03 ever come in stick?

What are the model differences between the 99-03?(ex. std, Type S etc.)

Is black interior an option in any color?

Are there any websites that shows stats about this car?

Thanks!

Nope. Only the '03 CL Type S was available with a 6-speed manual.

The 2000 added a 5-speed transmission (versus 4-speed for 1999). The 5-speed auto does not allow full control of first gear when using SportShift, however -- it will automatically upshift at redline versus the 99 which will just bounce off the limiter until you tap the lever. The intake manifold was also revised for 2000 to increase midrange power. Finally, the 2000 deleted the "intake air warmer" that was present in the airbox... basically a mini-radiator that had coolant flowing through it.

The 2001 is essentially the same as the 2000 except for the cupholders, which were made deeper to accomodate larger drinks.

For 2002, the front end styling was changed and foglights were standard (not available before.) A 2-driver memory system for the seats/mirrors was added as well. Also, the Type S model debuted in 2002.

The 2003's are essentially the same as the 2002's, save for one minor detail that I noticed on my friend's 2003 versus my 2002: The leather trim on the door panels on mine is the "wrinkled" leather look while his is the same perforated leather as used on the inner portions of the seats.

Yes. Available with several colors. On Type S models with a black interior, the faux "wood" trim inside is replaced with what can best be described as gray "bowling ball" looking trim.

Tons. Try http://www.acura-tl.com for most information. Google will help you find plenty of others.

i agree the 04 tl is pricey.. but look at what your getting. i love the new 04 front end, but the rear just looks unfinished... it looks like honda has been getting lazy as hell with rear ends. Ex: 04 accords, tsx -- looks like camry?, and now tl.

i think the cl-s and tl-s are the best bang for your buck in the used car maket. i just love the fit and finish of the tl. i only driven a 99tl, but it was still nice. i wonder how the tl-s would feel.

gl if you're in the market for a tl.

we had a 99 TL. great car around town, on the highway and in spirited driving. didn't do well in snow, so we replaced it with a E320 4matic. but, yes the car was excellent. very smooth on the highway, but not floaty like a buick. handled well considering its size and weight. the engine accelerated nicely on the highway and around town. overall great car, ours was silver with black interior. i kinda like the 99 TL better than the revised versions. i miss that car, until i drive the E.

04 TL is not that price its about the same price as a TL-S A-spec so you mite as well get the Bi-xenons and get a 6spd with brembo brakes and LSD

I own a 2nd Gen TL and i like it alot...the 1st year for the 5spd transmission is meant to shift itself b/c they don't want anyone blowing up their engines b/c they didn know they were in SS mode but if you boot it in 1st gear it will redline.

the 04 TL has been bumped up in price about 10% from the older base TL. which is very close to the 03 TL-S. around 33 grand. there is no more TL-S, the TL takes place of both versions. the TL a-spec is an optional package with the 6-speed, lsd, sport suspension, brakes, etc. i think the hid's are standard as with many other features that would be optional on other luxury cars.

There are 99 TLs here with decent mileage for about $13,000. That's more than half the price of an 04.

What's an Aspec TL?

A-spec TL comes w/ the Underbody kit as well. and Yes HID's have been standard on the TL since 99 but this time its Bi-xenons. standard on the new TL is also LED tail lights. More specifically about the brakes is a 4-pot Brembo brake caliper system
