Vigor swap
ya i guess ur rite i was thinking about it earlier i jus wanted it to be a bit faster with more power...im jus gonna get rid of it n get an integra/civic drop a b16 in it fast enuff for me...wut u guys think i should do im relly stuck
you cant swap an engine into the vigor, unless you find another inline 5 from a volvo or a saab or something, but i say leave it. if you want to make the car faster, find a way to supercharge it, and then rebuild the engine, with forged pistons, P&P heads/intake manifold, etc etc.
you can swap the c32. the vigor was renamed the TL in its last years as that platform. it also got new rearend and front-end. the 2.5TL was a vigor. but the started putting the c32 in and called it a 3.2TL. you'd have to find the mounts and then you're all set. also, an ecu set-up.
i'm sure a call to hasport would help. they are known for many swaps. its really not worth it though, but its an option. another option would be to swap in an H22 from a prelude or accord. they shared the same platform as the vigor/TL's.
a motor from another manufacture will not mate very well. computer is totally different, the external design is probably different too, at least with a volvo(only producer of i-5). VW makes a V-5 motor.

No you could not swap the C32 into a Vigor. The 3.2tl (earlier one) uses the same engine as the legend, which is a very wide engine since it is a 90 degree mount. The 3.2TL is a wider, taller, and longer car. Vigor was built up from an accord chassis, which is very small compared to the TL. You would be better off just buying a TL if you wanted to do that. Because not only will the mounts be different, but the transmission most likely wont line up.
Swapping an I-4 into a vigor? Good luck in that one, because those engines are horizontally mounted. Vigor engines, along with the first 3.2TL, and legend, and RL, all have the same engine mounting. Which is longitudinally. This means the engine is mounted from the front of the car to the back. Most FWD cars are mounted horizontally, which is what preludes, accords, integras, civics, etc are. There is not a chance in hell, you could fit one of those in a Vigor. End of story.
I said swapping an engine from another manufacturer as a joke, because any kind of swap into the Vigor would be pointless.

yes, i know how the engine is mounted. the accord had a v6 as an option, the C27. the C32 can fit if custom brackets are made. all generations of the TL have been built on accord chassis. and i was not joking about the h22 in the vigor. i think you need to familiarize yourself a little more with honda products not offered in the US. the accord inspire, the japanese equivalent of the vigor and later TL, had the h22 and i-5. and the V6's that honda uses are horizontally mounted (left to right). even the NSX's V6 is mounted horizontally. the only company right now to mount a V6 longituidally(north to south) is chrysler with the dodge inteprid, chrysler lhs/concorde and 300M. the V6 in our 99 3.2TL was mounted horizontally.
i do agree, he is wasting his time trying to swap in another motor or tuning the i-5. the aftermarket for that motor is virtually non-existent. it is an excellent motor though. but, honda shot itself in the foot when they could have put the H22 with as much power and torque or just drop in a V6, which they did when they changed the vigor to the TL.

The earlier TL with the C32 engine was mounted the same was as the legend engine. The C32 engine was always mounted longitudinally. As far as I know, the 2nd generation legend, as well as the 3rd generation legend (RL here, Legend in japan) ALL have longitudinally mounted engines.
There is no way the H22 could have been put in a Vigor. The vigor I-5 is longitundally mounted for 1, and it is slanted at a ~45 degree angle. And the legend engine (as i said before) is a 90 degree V6. It is a very flat engine compared to all of the other V6's honda makes.
