Default Can CAI and Headers cause problems with the oxygen sensor?

My check engine light came on and I was told that there was a problem with the oxygen sensor. A friend told me it may have something to do with the CAI or headers. Anyone have any experience with this???

What year car is it? Maybe the sensor was damaged during installation. Are there any leaks around the 02 sensor?

did you just install the items? or did the light just come on? If you just installed them there is a chance you didnt plug the o2 sensor back in or you damaged the sensor.

It's a '98 Prelude. I actually bought the car used with these mods already done. I want to replace the sensor but I don't want it to be a recurring problem, if in fact the mods are the reason for the malfunction.

Or should I just put back the stock parts? The car currently has AEM intake and DC headers. Do these aftermarket parts really help with performance. I've never driven one stock to really compare the difference.

Any input is appreciated.

they will help a bit with performance. Its probably the sensor for your header.

i would leave them on, they are most likely not the cause of the o2 sensor failure.

its not uncommon for o2 sensors too fail over time. just get a new one and it shoulde be awhile before another is needed.

if you'd like to test your current o2 sensor go to http://www.icelord.net/honda/repair/, the test procedures are under system/component tests.
