whats the best ground control spring rating on 94-up gsr?
I just bought the ground-control limited edition coilover kit for my 97 gs-r for $299. I installed them tonight and they ride with a very close to stock smoothness. On the loops getting on to the freeway, my car now handles them with more speed...it sucks though that the front left or right tire rubs on the loop depending on which way the turn is (only if going about 50mph). I have it lowered so that there's about a 1-1.25 inch gap in the wheel wells. Overall, I am very pleased with the ground control limited edition coilover kit. I'm gonna keep using my stock shocks with the kit for about 12,000 more miles, then I'll upgrade to stiffer shocks which I think would make it a pretty badass combo. I'll try to find out what the spring rates are for the kit.

The limited edition springs are excellent, that is what I am using on my 95 teg. (I think the limited edition are somewhere around 380 front and 250 rear, but I have not verified this). I used to be using skunk coilovers and they were 500 front and 400 rear and they were too stiff. The skunks were great on VERY smooth roads, but had trouble keeping good traction when cornering on rough roads. Also, the ride comfort with ground controls limited edition springs is great and with the skunks the ride was awful. By the way, I both cases my car was lowered only about 1".
Depends upon what you are doing with your car. Although, if you want a good street compromise of handling/comfort, do 300lbs all around.
Stock ITR rates are 250lbs (although they are progressive, unlike the linear springs that GC uses).
500/400 is almost too much for a street car unless you want to get beat up.
Oh, and get a decent set of shocks. Those are as important as the springs.

ive had ground controls, skunk2, and now i have weaponR dual spring coilovers. i like em much better... they align properly with the shock assembly. no more stripped sleeves like ground controls, and problem with fitting with skunk2s. however, ground controls and skunk2s do work good... i prefer weaponR now.
I initially installed GC's limited edition kit. I felt the ride was too rough for my roads. I talked with one of their reps and he hooked me up with the softest set-up they offer. 325F and 250R with 9" springs. The regular kit uses 8" I think. The longer spring and softer rate helped a little. I think some time in the near future I will get a set of progressive springs. My roads are too punishing.
dlplayboy: I've been adjusting the crap out of my kit and haven't had any trouble with stripping. I also live in an area with a lot of salt in the winter. Must have been something you did (no flame intended).
