Make sure that it was the GM synchromesh with friction modifier. It is more money than the normal stuff. I have seen H22a swaps go hard in to 5th gear, but no grinds. I messed with the cables and it went away.

My car has the same exact problem just started last week.
I also tried the GM Synchromesh FM car still has the grind.
How many other H22 guys have this 5th gear grind?
I think my 5th gear synchro is crap.

As stated above try to adjust cables a little and make sure they are set right and there shouldn't be a problem. Make sure they are tight and don't have any slack in them.

Well a little play is one thing, you need to get under the car and see if the cables are streched tight or what, yes cables can go bad in that they can starrt to fray or they can snap.

i have both 3rd and 5th gear grind. 3rd only grinds if i'm really getting on it. in fifth however if i go from fourth, put it in neutral, let off clutch, and the push it back in and put it in fifth it doesnt grind at all???? synchro??
Also have the 5th gear grind. Just put in GM Syncromesh FM and feels ALOT smoother but still grinds every once in a while... usually at high rpms 3500+. If I shift around 3000 or lower then it wont grind. Ill just give it some more time and play with the cables a bit.
H22EK-
What should I do to 'play' with the cables?? Anything specific?? My cables seem to be pretty tight so I wouldnt know what to do or check for. TIA.
