HELP!!!!! anyone who knows anything about stereo.......
i have a '94 gsr, and i was trying to install a pioneer head unit. Went online and found the wiring diagram for both the OEM harness and the Pioneer harness to know which wires to splice together.
(This is what i think happened) As I was finishing stripping the wire ends of the OEM harness, some of them touched together. My power antenna went a lil haywire, heard a little static in my speakers, and then it all stopped rather suddenly. I finished stripping and then splicing to the other harness and tried working the deck. I have NO power to the head unit since it's not powering on, PLUS the clock on the upper dash doesn't work now either.
At first, I was pretty sure it was just a blown fuse, so I checked that, but the fuse was fine. What could the problem be? Short circuit or something? How woud I fix this/ How should I go about checking what the problem could be? Maybe it would interest you to know that the clock might not be on the same fuse as the stereo, as it is excluded from the fuse box diagram on the inside of the fusebox cover panel.
Any ideas ANYONE?

Ladies and gentlemen, this is why step one to any installation is to disconnect the battery!
Do you have a multimeter or a test light? Did you cut the factory harness off of the car?

you have fuses by the brake or clutch on the driver side.
Check there.
I think in that car there are fuses under the hood too, check those.
Once all the fuses are accounted for.
Take all the wires apart.
reconnect ONLY the power and ground.
Then see what happens.
You most likely messed up the wire pairing, it happens.

From: Good luck to this industry, you're gonna need it.
Def go under the hood and check all the fuses. If you can't find it...then go to a local stereo shop you trust cough up 20 bones and tell him to find the problem and fix it. No more worries!
SUPPORT your local installer!!! For some of you I used to be one of them!
