Acura test drives after valve adjustment?
Well im watching the guy put my valve cover back on and he says go up front to take care of the paper work and pay for the service.
Well I hear a little Vtec and looks out side and see him flying up our local (long) road right next to the dealer. Do they always do that, he didnt even say anything to me, i would have asked to go with him. Jre. Just wondering if this is part of procedure. I dont trust those damn techies.

well that doesnt make me happy, has anybody else had this? It ****** pisses me off if they did that and its not standard procedure. I wish they would point out stuff like this in some sort of guide or seomthing
You do have the right to tell them not to drive it. If you let them do it, then that's all on you.
The guys that do my alignment say a test drive is standard procedure, but I told them it wasn't going to happen. I don't let anyone at the dealership drive mine either.

yeah they usually say they need to test drive after an alignment, i tell them that the parking lot is far enough
there was no way i would have let a stranger take my car out on a public street.

I would have made a complaint that they were reving the car above 6k before the car was warmed up, and that type of behavior leads to extra and undue wear on the car. If they blew you off, or you still feel like you should do something about it I would call Acura Customer Care and inform them of the wrong that the local Acura dealership did.

your car feels slower? maybe that's a psychological thing because you're so worried about seeing that mechanic semi-smashing in your car.
to dealerships. double check the oil level.

Because it uses water temp and not oil temp, which I believe is more important.

The local dealership took mine for a test drive to check on all of the vehicle functions after getting the car put back together (damn thieves). they did cross into VTEC but only after driving around for about 5 minutes.

both are pretty important, and no this mechanic shouldn't have driven your car like that, or at all. he doesn't even need to sit in the car to find out what kind of noises the vavles are making period.
if it still bothers you, go to the dealership and complain, don't call anyone, more gets accomplished when present

Seems it's a standard procedure to test drive the car after some work is done at the dealership. They should specify it in the final invoice. At least that happened to me in my last visit to the dealer for a valve adjustment and it's correspondent service after 15,000 miles. And,the damn fockers filled up the tank with cheap regular gas
Note: The motor pings a lil bit and you don't feel that power you already know.

I got my valve adjustment at a shop and he drove it around the parking lot once took it to 3000 a couple times.. [he asked me first] then I took it down the street to 8000 a couple times.. sounded/felt much better.. of course mine was getting so bad the engine was slightly 'knocking' so.. yeha..

I would go back and complain, dealerships are very concerned with CSI scores, (Customer Satisfaction Index) your the customer, tell em you are dissappointed with their actions. You might get something out of it, free oil change, discount on parts maybe.
cripe guys, you wonder why Acura doesn't bring the R back...all the owners go ballistic on the stupidest things.
Yes, he drove your car. He did this because IF he just gave the car back and you said something was wrong, it would turn into a he said she said crapfest. Okay so he Vtec'd. What do you expect? The guy to put on white gloves and condomize the seats?
If you're taking the car there then you're going to have to let them do the work as they see fit. If you don't want certain things happening then put stipulations on BEFORE hand.

Adjust them whenever you feel like. Do it yourself. It costs usually $100+ at the dealership. Depending on what dealership.
