Default Is all motor the way to go now?

I have a Type-r in my car w/ moderate mods and it is quick but i need more power. I was thinking of building it high compression but then i realized all my friends were turbo and all my work may be in vain. I need to know is it possible to keep up or even beat a turbo type-r w/ the inlinepro setup boostin on the street w/ no slicks. I feel that the all motor dream is fading and i want to keep it alive. Let me know your thoughts.

All motor will never be as powerful as a turbo setup, self explanatory.

But, all motor will be more reliable, and you need less power to run similiar times as a turbo setup.

I am an all motor guy myself, I feel your pain. But none of my friends have turbo's, well no turbo Honda's at least.

So if you want to keep up with your turbo buddies, either get a turbo or build your engine and spend a lot of $$$ trying.

Stay all motor. You'll get to keep your nice throttle response. But if you like doing top speed runs around 495 - turbo is the way to go.

All-Motor is quick
Turbo is fast

All-Motor is reliable
Turbo is not

You can Auto-X an All-Motor Car
You can not Auto-X a Turbo Car (assuming a decent turbo setup, that would spin tire thru all first 3 gears)

In All-Motor, you press the gas, then go
In Turbo, you press the gas, lag, then spool, begin to spin tires, hit full boost, roast the tires to redline, shift, lag, spool, spin tire..etc etc..

But turbo can go faster.

If you just want to go fast, there isn't really a question.

I think that i will stay all motor. You get a lot more respect on the street unless you have like an 10 sec street car.

If you know what you are doing FI is very reliable and cheaper for the same speed.

Build that engine, higher compression, bigger cams, and some tuning would do it lots of good.

If your friends have experience with Turbos then it might be wise to go that route so you could gain their knowledge and experience in that field and save in install costs (unless they just paid someone to do it). All Motor is more fun for some but everyone is different. I guess it all depends on what your goals are and how much money you have. You can def. get more power for your money with a turbo. To do all motor you really have to go "all in" if you know what I mean.

i think the b18c5 is a great platform for an all motor setup...the way i look at it:
all motor does better in quarter mile
f.i. does better on highway/high speed races.

Never join the band wagon just cuz someone does this do that, turbo and all motor are both good. I like all motor. Why? I dunno i just like high revving powerful motors. I like the feel and they way they sound. But I have seen some boosted cars that whoop *** too. ITR motos are great motors for all motor. Thats what i would do anyways.

lol, I was waiting for someone to say that. It comes down to a matter of personal preference. I don't think you should turbo a b18c5, for instance, but that doesn't mean you can't do it well or reliably. Just my opinion. All you are going to get as responses to the original post are people's opinions. Do whatever you can afford to do reliably.

Thank you all for your input, even those who had something negative to add. I like all motor and i think it will be that way until i get rid of the JDM Type-r motor.

Why tear apart the beauty if the b18c5 to go turbo? It was designed with NA in mind. Spending all that money just to change everything out would be costly.
