Help First Build
Hey I have been on honda-tech for awhile and have been saving up to mod my honda my fam. is buying me my ground controls and KYB's for xmas and I bought my head unit next on my list is my engine. The car is a 97 HX and this is my first build so let me know what you think...
99 GSR ECU
2000 B18b Block
ITR Pistons
ITR Rods
1999 B18c Head
ITR Cams
GSR Intake Manifold & Throttle Body
JDM ITR 4-1 Header
2000 B16 Trans
This car is just for a daily driver with a kick me and my friends plan on building a race car between us because were just a bunch of poor students and cant afford to make our cars fast alone... Do you have any suggestions that will yield higher numbers to this setup around the same price?
*Changed block from B20 to B18 but still looking for a good Piston and Rod setup thats fairly cheap for a daily driver.

If you use the B20 block, you won't be able to use ITR pistons. B20 block is 84 mm, and the biggest ITR pistons are 81.25 (maybe 81.5). Also, the ITR rods have a narrower big end, and you'll have ZERO oil pressure on the B20 crank. Either you have to do custom pistons with the ITR rods and ITR crank, or use the LS rods with the B20 pistons.
Everything else looks pretty good. The GSR ECU will likely hold you back though. I'd recommend either a Hondata with an OBD1 adapter, or get a JDM B16 96-98 ECU and tune it with a V-AFC or some other piggy back.

Thanx alot guys the set up was planed for a B18B block first but all my friends told me I wouldn't be as happy unless I went with the B20 block...I guess I'll just go B18B but with the GSR IM & TB... would that set up with the GSR or B16 ECU be ok for a daily driver with alittle umf I really want a OBD2 ECU since my cars OBD 2 and I don't wanna go nuts rewiring or buying a conersion harness... also if I went with the B20 block what pistons, rods should I use to keep the Compression around a stock GSR's maybe alittle higher?
