Default 3 point strut bars VS. regular ITR strut bar

ive been reading a couple of threads and have read that a lot of people say that the 3 point strut bars (Benen, Carbing, etc.) dont really do much because the 3rd mounting point is to 1/4 inch thick sheet metal...i was really interested in getting a 3 point strut bar but now im thinking maybe my strut bar is good enough...can anyone tell me more about the 3 point strut bars and if they are really worth buying...project_dc2 makes 3 point strut bars and i was interested in one of his...i think his website is http://www.spoolinperformance.com... but now i dont know...if anyone has a 3 point strut bar...or had one...can they shed some light on this topic?thanks

No offense, but the bar on that site looks like it can be made at home depot. I wouldn't buy that if I were you.

no offense taken...id like to know why you guys dont like the bar...except for because its ugly...i just wanna buy a good bar for a good price...i dont wanna spend 350 on a carbing bar even though they look nice (and perform nice??)

???? Are you saying you can use the Gsr strut bar in front of the carbing one?...like using both of them at the same time?

You see where the triangle part is welded on project dc2's bar? The base of the triangle is less than a foot. For it to actually add stability the welds should be closer toward the shock tower. That is why I do not like the bar.

It also would be good to know what kind of metal the bar is made out of.

Will the stock itr strut bar fit also on the carbing?

No one actually REALLY know how well any of these damn bars work. They do different things in different cars or bars or whatever. So YES the looks do count for me, I for one like a good looking engin bay. cant wait to see all the **** come complaining about "who cares how it looks, just as long as it works"

looks are important to me too...but im too broke for my engine bay to look good, so i just want some performance...or else id be all over that carbing bar...thats tight how it uses the stock strut bar at the same time

3pts strut bars arent even allowed in most events (i.e. autocross), so whats teh point? i think this is cause it tends to explode through the firewall and into your torso in a head on collision

there is specific reference in some classes that forbids the 3pt bars.

that being said, the majority of people buying these probably are not autocrossing (and I'm including the demographics outside of HT).

In the event of an accident...yeah they usually promote more damage, but end up absorbing energy = more safety.

on my itr the side that suppose to connect to the firewall is alittle short (about an 1/5 of an inch too far away. I striped the tread on the firewall sorry no pics. Oh yeah its it ******* heavy as hell too. made out of steal and weighs twice the wight of the stocker but it looks nice and I dont want to bother with another bar, the carbing is 2x the price of the benen

yes, i asked about this too. but they said all i'd have to do was unmount the 2 10mm bolts that connect the bar to the firewall and i'd be good to go.

I Like the three point because it looks IN-SANE and seems like it would make a significant differance- I gotta look into it more, but knowing how much my mugen one helped- I'd assume this would make a diff as well

buying a strut bar because of its looks is dumb IMO.

but it doesn't. however, the Carbing one that i had was lighter than the Mugen bar.. and were relatively competitive in the price range. oh well
