auto tranny gone and got f#ck by warranty people!!!!!!!!
two weeks ago i took my 97 lude for a little spin on i-95,got out of i-95 then a minute after that i notice that white smoke was coming out from the right side of the engine bay first i thought that the head seals went or something inside the engine broke, pull out to the emergency line open the hood and somekind of oil was all over the side of the engine bay and some drops on top of the engine my first thought was that seals went bad ,got on the car and some how drove it home.
once at home i started to check for the source of the problem but when i rub my finger across the oil it happen to be transmission oil ,got down to check the bottom part of the engine were the transmission is located and to my surprise every single part down there was wet with transmission fluid.
damn i just fix that last year,so i call the car dealer that i got the car from and told them what happen and they told me to get the extended warranty papers and to bring the car down there.
did as they told me and yesterday the shop call me and told me that the warranty people had send an adjuster to check the damages inside the transmission and he told the people at the shop that the warranty will not cover the repair because i have performance parts on the car (aem intake and aerospeed muffler) and that i had race the car before the transmission got damage.
i told the dude if going about 80 mph on the interstate is consider racing then i guess that race every day.
then the dude told me it will be 800.00 to put it back together and give me the car all fuckup or 1600.00 to fix it ,what i don't understand is that the first time that happen i had the muffler (one of so call perfomance part) and they still fix it no question ask.
now they are coming with all kinds of excuses and the sad part about all this **** is that the shop they have the car at is not a honda certified and i still have one year left on the warranty.

phone honda... from what i understand, they have to be able to prove that the parts you put on directally caused the damage, for example, aem cold air intake sucked up water so engine siezed... other wise they can't do jack... also ask how the can prove you raced it? otherwise they have to fix it... don't pay them....honda will pay the third party garage if it is warrenty
It has to a honda dealership for warranty work and they have to use honda parts. Warranty work does not allow the dealership to get 'more' money'. When warranty work is performed the profit is almost nothing, that is why they are telling you what they are. They are going to use any excuse not to perform the repair because they get more money if it is not warranty work. I suggest picking up your car as is put everything back together yourself and call a honda dealership tell them what is wrong, befor you take it in take off your bolt ons off.

Was it a Honda dealer? What company did you get the extended warranty through?

I'd give WYNN'S EXTENDED CARE INC. a couple words.

finally after pulling almost every hair of my head and taking to lawyers the warranty people agree to pay for the repairs, after they repair it i'm thinking of trading it for a 5spd lude or just to get an integra,f@ck the sportshifter and f@ck the honda engineers that came up with that piece of shity tranny
sportshift really sucks. good choice selling it and getting a 5 speed. back to the basics is always best, at least when it comes to manual trannys compared to auto's
im so glad ive ragged on my tranny and not had one problem at 50k. But I must say if it ever does go, im gonna take it in get it fixed for free and then sell it. I dont think a 30k mile h22 5 speed is gonna be greatly reliable.

That's a common misconception. Unless the workmanship of another shop is at fault, they can't void your warrenty because another place used original parts to fix your car.
Also, they can't just say the exhause and intake caused it to brake. They have to prove beyond any reasonible doubt that those two peices infact are what caused it. Since the SS tranny is already known to have problems even in stock form I'd fight this big time. Find as many post, articles, etc that show other people's issues with the tranny and what not and what mods they have. It will atleast help back up your claim of the exhaust and intake not being at fault. Also, keep putting pressure on them. Most companies will give in if you keep on their backs anyhow.

I tried searching for the actual printing of the Magnus-Moss Act but couldn't find it. I know we have a copy at work.

it's gonna be significantly more reliable than the sportshift. so what would you consider a more reliable tranny?
