Gear shifting problem?
Anyone experience problems with their 6-gear close-ratio tranny?
I drove manual hondas since 1986 and never had any problem shifting, power-shifting, etc. Well, I just got my new RSX-S a month ago and I must say the tranny is very slick. Too slick I would say because you can change gear without effort (like downshifing) even when the engine cannot tae it!! I heard of engine blowout because of this (meachanics at the dealer told me to watch out), have you?

uhh - I don't know of any manuals that won't allow you to try and put it in a rediculous, engine damaging gear. Of course, I'm not the most knowledgable car person out there.
Any close-ratio tranny will require a little extra thought and care as to where you are shifting.
How you like your new S?

I realllllly appreciate it!! It's an all new car, completely different from the last gen. It is much better. And frankly, those who are bitching about it don't really know what they are talking about.
And as for my original question, I know that you can "force" any tranny from 3rd to 2nd, but at least you felt some resistance. With mine, I don't, even when I'm at 65 mph... that is scaring a bit because of the close ratio.
Those of you lucky enough to have a RSX-S, can you go from 3rd to 2nd at about 65 without "forcing" you stick? If not, then I have a problem with mine!!
Any anwsers would be helpful!!
Thx

135 mph in 5th and shifting to 6th...
