any feelings on what is better for a 98 civic ex d1y8 motor...turbo or supercharger...need help, and answers????

 

Pretty much all will say turbo, but it depends on what you want from your car.

 

Straight t3, .48 exhaust housing. Fully spooled by 4k w/ a killer top end! And no, for you B series guys, it's not killer like an sc61 on a gsr swap... In case some of you are tempted to (yet again) that D series don't make power

But, it's still a helluvafun turbo.

I hope that turbo would spool faster than that, my y8 with an sc32 gets .45 bar @ 3800........

oh and to the guy who started this post, try an acrhived search... this topic has been beaten up thousands of times


try an archived search man. i see about 30 topics like this a week.

 

2 questions:

what's the a/r of your sc32? Mine's a .48. 4k was approxamite.. it might be 3800, i haven't checked in a while... but the turbo is a volvo 740/760 turbo and it came off a 2.4l motor, so what can I expect on a 1.6...?

and secondly, I think your y8 has higher compression than my z6, hence slightly faster spool, especially if we both are .48. I haven't paid attention in a while though to exactlyt where i spool fully.
