Default Anyone polished the inside of the OEM ITR intake manifold ??

Here's the deal .. I just bought a Hondata heatshield intake manifold gasket. I figure that as long as I'm taking the intake manifold off I might as well pull out my trusty Dremmel and polish the runners. Has anyone else done this ?? Is it worth the hassle ?? I appreciate the feedback ...

Yes, I used Extrude Hone last year some time. On a Stock Cam ITR motor. that was making 185whp and 135lb-ft on a MD chassis dyno it did not improve anywhere except the very top of the RPM band. Instead of the curve peaking dropping it peaked and held until the rev limiter.

If I had a higher rev limiter, Bigger cams ECT ECT it might be worth it. But in a stock cammed, bolt on motor not worth it IMO

I heard that polishing the ITR IM doesnt do much because its already very nicely set up from the factory. Any truth to that?

Wow!! That fabricated IM looks nice but its a little more than I want to spend right now. I've spoken to some locals who tell me that the polishing is really not worth the hassle.

I really don't expect to see a huge improvement but if I can get even a little benefit from it, then its not wasted time to me. Anyone else ??

you could actually lose power.

the rough casting aids in atomization.

yeah, leave it alone. Save your money for other ways to make power.

Ok ... yeah, I can take the IM out completely no problem. So, basically etch the Hondata gasket to the IM ports and match it with my Dremmel ?? Will it make a difference even though I am not port-matching the head ??
