how easy/hard is it to change a syncromesh??
i think ive been a bit too harsh on my gearbox, changing gear too fast when racing etc. now when i shift into 3rd when doing anything over 6000 rpm it crunches badly. can it be repaired or should i spend £150 on a secondhand box. the car is a uk civic eg6 92 vti (158 bhp....no lsd) should i just save for a secondhand box w/lsd?
if if you do all the labor yourself, the syncronizers (which can quite possible include gears as they also have teeth for the syncro on the main gears) can be over $150 from dealer. Best bet is used low mileage box and keep current one for spare.
BTW, 3rd is generally the most prone to go on most cars with "H" pattern.

You can do it yourself if you are willing to take the time to do it right and invest in the right tools. Particularly you will need a decent hydraulic press. You will also need the Helms manual for your model.
