Default Question for Alpine 9813/9815 owners

I'm about to replace my stock HU with an Alpine 9813. Will the 9813 power up the antenna when the radio is not the audio source? I rarely use the radio, and don't want my antenna up anymore unless it's necessary. Just want to know if I'll need to install a manual switch or if the 9813 will handle it for me.

Most headunits now have power antenna wires -- which will raise/lower the antenna depending on the source. If its not the radio, the antenna will go down (assuming you have a power antenna that is)

I know most HUs supply a powered antenna line, and the 9813 does. But I'd like to know specifically if the antenna line on the 9813 supplies constant power like the stock HU, or if it only supplies power when it's needed (radio is the audio source).

yes.

Alpines only power the line when the radio is on. Remember, Alpine makes most OEM Honda radios, and all you'd have to do is look at say a 95 Accord. When the radio is on, the power antenna goes up, when it's on another source it's down.

Thanks, that's what I needed.

My stock HU's a Panasonic, and I've never owned an Alpine before.

the antenna will go down if you choose another source other than the radio. if u want it tstay up the entire time the radio is on you can hook up the power antenna (car side) to the remote turn-on wire off the radio.

When you are playing a CD (or other source) the antenna will go down. My OEM HU was a Pioneer, so as long as it was on, the antenna was always up.
