k series vs b series motors?
i prefer b series. but the k series has alot of potential also but lot of the tuning comes from the ecu. even though i have a d series motor i still like the orginal b's
The K series is a more advanced motor with more potential than any B series ever will. For one, It's actually quite easy to pump 250+ horses to the wheels with just bolt-ons. The K series uses more advanced engine functions including a better VTEC (well, in the RSX anyways). Not only all of this but the classic Honda parts interchangability is still there. You can take a 2.4 liter TSX motor and the head from the K20A or the K20A2 and build one hell of a hybrid with only Honda parts. Companies like Hytech are already putting out products for the K series that help the motor to make sick power that's beyond what any B series is capable of. A turbo B16A tuned and running 10 psi would still have a hard time trying to catch a K20A with nothing but bolt-ons assuming that both motors were in the same car. Don't get me wrong, the B series is great and is an easy, cost effective way to make a lot of Hondas fast, but the K series is simply the better engine. I love my B series and would probably only let it go for a DC5 ITR motor, but that may be years away.
there is a guy on here named k20eg. he has a k20(rsx type-s) with cams bolt ons and chiped ecu. dyno tuning he has 237 whp. he is running 11's with this car. i think in the upcoming years i think the k series will turn into the new b series and take over motor swaps.
