OBDII and turbo..?
i did do a search and got some various answers, but nothing to specific.
If i purchased lets say a 96+ gsr or civic that was obdII and installed a turbo kit that i currently have, running either hondata or the hack or some other form of managment, is the only way to pass emissions to return the car to stock?, ive never really delt with obdII cars so im sorry if the question is a little off. I know the check engine light would come on wich would throw the emission test and i know if i run the obd1 to obd2 conversion harness, i heard that would fail it to. Is there a way to pass the emission test with a turbo obdII car?
Here in illinois at least its come to the point if the ecu check dosent pass, the car wont, they wont give the option for a idle or dyno check. (all info from a buddy who works at at local emission place)

Yep pretty much. Sounds like your emission testing is the exact same as mine. If your ecu doesnt pass you fail. It's total bullshit. Idemanded to be put on the sniffer and they wouldn't do it. I guess my demand didn't work
. If you have a aem (i do) it wont communicate to their tester obviously. And if you have a hondata in a car that is supposed to obd2 they will fail you too obviously. Seems to me the option is either to take your stuff off (i did) or run a vortech fmu and the check valve things that eliminate the map sensor code (i have no experience with that).

either would I, dam i guess switching it over is my only option.
thanks for the reply though,

Switching over is your only option. I have Hondata and have to switch back to stock ecu and stock injectors. when I do this no boost nothing or I'll trip codes. I also stand there to make sure they don't do anything crazy that might blow the motor.
you dont have to worry about that with mine, they don't even touch the motor. plug into the scanning port and thats it. if there is no codes and it "communicates" i.e. stock ecu then you pass.

god would i love to build an emulator for this so i wouldnt have to swtich out my exhaust and ECU for emissions testing.

well... The easy answer is to just run a secondary injector control. Such as an FM2, or an e-Manage with the injector harnes. then you won't even touch your ECU. But if you have to pass a visual inspection... where the Tech looks for things like a turbo... than it still won't pass wether or not it has low emissions.
Good luck
