Just bought an ITR... But what's the big deal?
I just bought an '01 PY ITR a week ago, # 0681.
I don't see what the big fuss is over these cars - sure, they're well built, solid vehicles, but they're not very fast, nor do they handle very well.
I sold my '99 Trans Am WS6 to get this car, and the Trans Am outhandled, out-accelerated, and out-braked the ITR.
This car is really really nothing nearly as special as you guys make it out to be, it's just a regular car, with some fancy badges and some needless worshipping.
Don't hate me, it's the truth

The WS6 does out-handle the ITR, for sure.
You should read up on the WS6, my friend.
In addition, my mother had an '01 Honda Civic DX, and that damn thing broke down every 2 weeks. She went out and bought an '02 Pontiac Grand Am GT and couldn't be happier. No maintenance has had to done to the Grand Am except routine oil changes.
In retrospect, I should've kept the Trans Am. It was a superior vehicle in every way, shape, and form.
Not to say that the ITR sucks...

perhaps you didn't get an ITR?
I know for sure that the WS6 will not out-brake the R. that thing is a pig.
also, I don't think you can say In one day of ownership what the limits of the car are. You will appreciate the R trust me.
I feel more comfortable driving my R fast, than our 94 C4...
Not only that, you are going from RWD to FWD, the driving technique is totally different..

Once you do some decent mods to your car, then i think you'll be more impressed with the R, when I bought mine, I kinda felt the same, but you gotta remember, is a 4 cylinder which lacks lots of torque, and your car is more than likely stock, but I dont know cause you havent told us yet, but now I am MORE than satisfied with my car with a little bit done to it :-)
so why'd you sell the WS6 to get an R then? sounds like you shoulda figured all that out on the test drive and kept what you had..
i agree the WS6 is much faster.. handling is different, but not better..

STFU. you didnt just get an ITR, you are just a hater. Tell the guy driving the WS6 that I WAXED last week that my ITR is slow. I embarrassed him and his friends he had in the car with him. I bet you have never even driven an ITR. If you test drove it and wasnt impressed, why would you buy it? Dont hate, playa'
No guys, this is the real deal. # 0681, Phoenix Yellow.
5 lug, and it has that underbody brace that only ITRs have... If someone were to put it on a GS-R, it'd be so blatantly obviously that only a moron would miss that.
To answer that question about handling, the Trans Am outhandles the ITR everywhere, street and track. I autocross regularly, and the WS6 yielded me far better times.
Another thing about the ITR - the interior is not very nice or ergonomic at all compared to the Trans Am. The WS6's interior was much nicer, and felt far more solid.

WS6 will dust an ITR.
The only thing I can think of that an ITR will do better is brake. It will probably feel a lot more comfortable to drive an ITR at speed, too. But those WS6s are fierce.

Guys, look.
I am not trolling. I bought the ITR because the gas costs for the WS6 were just KILLING me... 5.7L V8s don't exactly sip the stuff.
All I am doing is stating an honest opinion, and that is that the WS6 is a superior car, I just couldn't afford the friggin gas for it.
Also, no ITR would ever "wax" a WS6.
I bought the ITR after lurking here on Honda-Tech's ITR forums, reading all the super rave reviews of this car, how it handles like it's on rails, and whatnot. I do a ton of autocrossing, and after reading so much about this car I blindly bought one. Stupid - yes, but I NEEDED a car THAT day, as someone had bought my WS6 the week before and I was taking my sweet time looking for something else.
My wife got a little bit upset that I was taking so long, so I jumped on the ITR.
Please don't hate me, I don't hate the car, but it just does not deserve the praise that you guys give it at all.

What ross sez. Most people dont know that a 4th gen F-body handles *very* well.
Yes they are a bit cumbersome to drive and the seating position makes you feel like you're driving a bathtub if you're short (5'8" here), but they are a blast to drive.
They arent the only go fast in a straight line on 185 width bias ply dumbestic break down rattle trap piles of **** that everyone wants to believe they are.

You need to have a frame of reference in which to compare the car.
Tell me how many other mid $20K cars you can buy and take out onto the track (maybe get new brake pads and fluid) AS IS and be as good as the ITR.

WTF kinda thread is this, both cars suck, the ws6 is a straight line gas guzzling piece of crap that is gonna break down and leave you stranded and the overpriced ITR turns somewhat but cant go anywhere in a straight line. Both cars are disasters dont bicker about stupid things like which car is faster or better handling when both cars suck.
"To answer that question about handling, the Trans Am outhandles the ITR everywhere, street and track. I autocross regularly, and the WS6 yielded me far better times."
Damn, you just got it and already autocrossed it on identical Autocross courses and got better times? Seems kind of impossible.

you have to remeber everything is relative.
so when he says "ws6 out handles the itr"
he could mean in terms body squat or how comfy the ride is
he could also be used to RWD platform, im guessing unless you are familar with the constant push of a fwd, and dont know how to handle it, things will seem like it doesnt handle as good

The ITR is a lot more capable than you are giving it credit for. Whether you have one or not, you are being very close minded about the ITR. Dont forget we are talking about an OLD DESIGN(well ahead of its time), 4 cyl 1.8L motor with virtually no torque to speak of, yet it can hold its own very well against some of the newest cars on the market. The cars coming out now are finally able to hold their own against the ITR. Took them long enough dont you think? And most cars that are "faster" than the ITR are not NA and need BOOST or bigger motors to compete. Stop being so judgemental in such a short period of time.
And yes, it is possible for an ITR to WAX a WS6. It has been done, and with my very own ITR, so deal with it. Holler!
