Default Max B16 Power?

K, this may have been brought up before but.....

I was wondering what an all-motor B16 would max out at. And I don't mean a stroked to the nuts modified block but a block with stock bore and stroke but high compression, porting, cams, etc. And the other stipulation I have is that it run on 93 octane. I'm just curious what is possible?

Thanks Guys,

Krazy Karl

If you think it has been covered before, here is a good place to confirm that is has, in fact, been covered several times.

200whp is possible with 11.3:1 compression on 81x77.4mm config with some good but not too exotic parts. The header, intake manifold, and cams are key power ingredients.

Thanks guys. I was discussing it with a friend of mine who wants to build a road race Civic. He was convinced to go with a B18C and I told him to look at the B16. He was sure you couldn't get much more out of it that 170whp.

170whp is very easy to accomplish. I have a beater B16 right now with stage 1's with IHE and a ITR manifold putt'n down 171whp. This motor was straight off the boat. Like KID-HONDA said above, dollar for dollar it's a great little motor.

I thought, for the money, that a B16 has a lot of potential. And I think he could run in a lesser class with 1600cc vs. 1800cc. We'll see what happens. Thanks again guys.

He doesn't need a b18c if he's building a 'road race Civic.' He should spend the money he saves on suspension or more power into the 1.6
