What would you concider the best car alarm with pager?
Basically I'm looking to get a new alarm for my caR, I want the basic features plus windows up and down, pager, starter, two shock, protective zone-I'm not sure of the name like a perimeter alarm/warning, and a remote something like the one that comes with the compustar(show whats doing with the car).
what would everyone recommend?
If you do give a recommend something can you provide a link so that I could read and maybe get some prices too?
Thanks!

Take a look at the new viper responder system. My girl has one on her teg with all the bells and whistles and it works great. Has the pager integrated into the remote with LCD screen showing zone alarms and lock\unlocked status.

pager alarms are so over rated, If u want all those options go for a cliffort G5 Intil they come with window up and down and auto start, kill switch, blackjax (u have to enter a code every time u open the door, very badass. Omni Sensor, and they have radar options, they are better then any pager unit out there, the pager is very over rated and shouldn't be reiled on at ALL. It's good to have it as a 2ed alarm, put it over your cliffort, thats a good investment, but when ur inside the mall or at the movies test ur pager and watch u won't get paged the range sucks yo.
personally i would go with a hornet 554tmader by directed electronics. this alarm dose it all. remote start alarm and keyless entry. the range on the remotes is excellent. i install these at my shop and i have had no come backs with them.

If I want to track a trip with the car (vacation) or follow a thief who just stole it, I want to loan my car to a freind and watch where he goes and how fast.
Or just see how far I travel and want to keep track of it.

I just read it, thanks. Sounds good.
How much does a typical install cost for this system? I assume the pager is an additional module with this unit correct?

Install, I'll be doing it myself- I don't need anyone to mess it up I can do that all by myself
As for the options... I really don't know yet, I'm still looking into this alarm, I have been to a few sites that discuss alarms and they all give it
and only a few bad comments.
I have yet to see it in person, but might take a trip to a shop to check it out.

I'll help a fellow NY guy out here...as for my opinion, i just put a clifford matrix rs 3.5 in my teg, and i love it so far, great alarm, pager works well, remote start works well (yes it's a manual car), range seems good but i havn't given it any crazy tests yet. i have no complaints at all and it has the coolest remote/lcd/pager combo deal also which is a nice "mad bling bling yo" option hahahaha. anyway, enough joking, read up on that one, as i said, i'm loving mine so far and if i'm not mistaken gps can be added to it.

Finally someone who knows a good alarm. Code Alarm TW1 is the ****. super easy to install, user friendly and most importantly NOT made by DEI.

DEI is fine. I think people turn their nose away from DEI because almost everyone owns one. DEI makes very reliable products that turn big profits for stores like Best Buy and Circuit City. DEI also offers high-end systems for those interested in really protecting their car.
FYI....the new Code Alarm stuff is actually made by Audiovox. Audiovox bought Code Alarms' assets back in March of 2002. The TW1 is esentially the same as APS-996 and the TW2 is exactly the same as the APS-995. Basically, you have the same scenario with DEI and Clifford. You'll see more clearly defined products like the TW1 and the new CA series while other models will mesh with the Prestige line of Audiovox.
In the end.....it's all about the installation.
