exhaust gasket?
I am installing a thermal r&d catback exhaust system on my '95 Prelude VTEC. I notice that it comes with a gasket to go between the mid pipe and rear section, but not one to go between the cat and the midpipe. I went to autozone and they sold me some round metal donut, but I am thinking something like the one that came with the system for the other connection would be better as this donut is hell to get to stay in place. what kind of gaskets can I get for this and where can I find them online?
Nope, they sold you the correct gasket. There is a groove on the back flange of the cat that the metal gasket sits in and then when you tighten the bolts on the cat it compresses the gasket and seals up nice and tight. But you may have a problem getting the old gasket off. I couldn't get mine off my 97 and I could barely tell where it was. I didn't even think there was a gasket there until I took a second look.

Is that what that was. I thought the gasket I bought looked about the same size as that ring, but I dug and pried all I could and the thing wouldn't budge. I wrote it off as the end of the cat where the flange attached to it.
Anyone know how to get that silly thing out? drill? dremel? cold chisel didn't seem to do it.

I had to take mine to the shop to get it off. I tried for about an hour with no luck. I though of drilling a hole in it but I couldn't tell where the gasket started and the flange on the cat began (it was dark). Good luck and I hope you figure out how to get it off.

thanks for the tip. I can see where mine goes so I may try to drill a hole in it and pry it out. Hopefully I don't mess it up. then again, maybe I should wait since I need to get emissions tested before the end of the month, just in case I do screw it up
