mugen brake pads?
It looks like I will have to replace the brake pads sometime around xmas, but I want brake pads with a good durability (last long). I was just looking through the kingmotorsports site and there were brake pads from mugen there, do u guys have any experience on those brake pads and know how last long?

If you want the pads because they are Mugen and you are receiving them as a gift go for it. But there are lots and lots of other pads that cost half as much and are rated for higher temperatures. I swapped my stock pads for Hawk HP+'s and they were fantastic when I took my GSR to the track last weekend. There 7 other Integra's at the track (6 ITRs) and many of them were using a street/track pad like Porterfield R4S, Hawk HP+, and Carbotech Panthers, and some were using track only pads like Hawk Blues, and Porterfield R4.
Basically the closer you get to a race pad they'll generate more dust and take longer to warm up. I would recommend that you get the HP plus, or the HPS from Hawk, or maybe the EBC greens. You can get these from Tirerack.com.
You might want to ask about brake pads on the competition board because those guys have tried all kinds of pads in an effort to get the perfect compromise for autocrossing and/or open tracking and daily driving.
I have serious doubts about Mugen products. They all perform great but I wonder if they are worth the 50% to 100% price premium. I wonder if it is just the King Motorsports markup or if they are actually that expensive...

Hehehe... typer100 is right. Stay away from EBC. They'll fade on you quickly at the track and it took my friend just about 20 laps to finish a whole set. The Reds and Yellows from EBC aren't any better either. If anyone claims they don't fade, they aren't braking hard enough!

BTW, King Motorsports only marks up the products enough to cover shipping costs from Japan and customs hassles...their prices are virtually the same as those in Japan.

ITR-Animal, i just came back from Hong Kong and the prices were pretty much the same. Maybe 10-15 dollars cheaper for the cold air intake over there. Mugen prices are pretty much the same anywhere. It depends on who you know wether you can get a discounted price.
You have to understand that most parts are marked up 40-60% off what they pay for it. They have employees and rent. They have to cover their costs. They aren't there to hook you up. they are out there to make enough to survive on.

I really dought that...
King's, and some are the same. But you have to take into account how much it will cost for you to get it shipped from Japan to your doorstep. Trust me, it will end up costing more that way....King is the lesser of two evils.
When it come to brake pad, the first thing it came to my mind is ENDLESS!! They have so many choice that there must be one that will fit your driving style!! But with the word ENDLESS is also mean $$$$$$

I'd question whether it is truly the pads that are failing OR in fact your brake fluid boiling....thereby causing your braking problems?! It is not good enough to just replace the pads, you should upgrade the brake fluid also.....I use Castrol SRF.
-2 things! Either your not getting the same kind of EBC poop over there or EBC is the only brand you ever tried... Get yourself a set of Hawks HP+/Blue and call me back! Porterfield is nice too, but a bit more expensive compare to Hawks!

I know that Mugen stands for quality so I was just wondering, my brakes are stock and it´s just the pads I´m changing
Having run with EBC 'Green Stuff' @ 4 different race tracks....I would have to disagree with your comments and I assure you, I was braking plenty hard enough.

What this all boils down to is if the Mugen pads are worth the 100% price premium. They do have a good temperature range (212 to 1170 degrees Celsius) but I'd be hard pressed to say that they are tremendously better than the Hawk HP+ or the Porterfields. Also, no one in here has had experience with them so the Mugen pads are sort of a wild card.
I think you won't be disappointed with the Mugen pads
but if you compare them head to head with the others you may be disappointed on price/performance ratio (aka value)

Mugen is a good brand and if you have the money and like the name, they should be ok. IMHO, they won't be much better than HP+, but they shouldn't be bad either. For sure, they're not worth the price premium. Mugen may not even manufacture them.
