Pretty good for track, fairly affordable. Very responsive tire thanks to the steel inserts in the sidewalls. If you don't mind the ANNOYING drone caused by them gopherit. Wear quickly and not so hot in the wet. Ride is also harsher.
Per Yoshay's request,
I use A520's on 16's with my GSR. 225/40 is what I run. I do AutoX every month (over 1 year now). Did an AutoX school which is when my tires REALLY started to wear. and a Speed Trial event in Willow Springs recently. My tires looked shaved now but I am going to probably get these again. Falkens are good from what Yoshi is saying but I stick with my Yokos cause they go with my rims
Yoshi likes the A520's better than the Kumho Estca 712. I think he still has those for sale really cheap. They are sorta new.
As for the "Drone", is there a drone in the 520s? cause i never notice it, or maybe my exhaust drones instead
I hear the 032's drone, but not sure of the 520's.
-Aoib0t, who loves his A520's. puts a plug for Yoshi's tires that sit in a secret garage.

The 520s are pretty good. I've known a lot of MR2 owners who are very happy with them. Wet traction is of zero importance to me, so I would get something as sticky as possible. You can find better tires than the 520s, but it's hard to at their pricepoint.
i've had two sets, i like 'em. i run 215/40/16's on my 16x7.5" rims now . . . LOTS of grip.
yeah, wet traction isn't the best. but then again, i don't drive aggressively in the rain anyway. if i had a WRX, on the other hand . . .
for the money, they rock (~$100/tire). excellent steering response (some people think they're 'darty', but it's because of the ridiculously stiff sidewalls), so-so wear (expect 15K at best), excellent grip. and i don't notice any noise/droning with mine . . .

I've had mine since March and they are really nice on the track. Very predictable. They do develop a roar/ drone once the tread starts to wear, more so from the rear in my 96 hatch. Radio (stock) covers it up though.

There are better tires than the a520. Not the best, but decent for the price. If they're to be street tires, look into the Falken Azenis. Cheap, very good grip. Grippiest "street" tire around.
i BEAT THE **** OUT OF MY A520'S
they took 5 months of track racing, street racing, tougue runs, mindless burnouts...
(most of you wouldnt do this with your car but I own a pos si so I dont care lol)
they are scary as **** in the rain with any kind of camber... but in the dry I was never worried about me losing traction, the sidewalls are steel belted so you can put your other rims on top of eachother when traveling and they wont scratch, your tires wont ROLL OVER in hard turns, and your rims wont bend like a 5 dollar hooker when you hit potholes like with these shitty *** khumos.

I've had 3 sets of A520s (1 set of 205/50ZR16 for my stock SH wheels, and 2 sets of 225/45ZR16 for my CP-035s). I'd say they're very good tires for that price. The grip is pretty good in dry condition, not too bad in wet. The only thing is that they wear out pretty quickly and kinda noisy at times. My 1st set (205/50ZR16) lasted pretty long, in fact I still have them, but also they weren't on the car all the time.
My 2nd set (225/45ZR16) had the shortest life. I got my CP-035s with those A520s in early March this year, did 7 auto-x'es and 1 Street of Willow event during one of the hottest days in the summer (7/2/01). I finally had to replace them on 7/9/01. I only had approx. 10k miles on them. But because the price, I went with A520s again. Although I like them a lot, but I'll try out the Bridgestone S-03s as my next set of tires.

I've driven on Yokohamas since '89, last set were the A520's, noisy, tramline something awful, nice grip and turn in though
Now I drive on the Falken Azenis.....nice tire.
