Im curious, it seems like its like the EG VS the DC2/4
What are the structual differences between the EP3 and the DC5.
I know the EP3 has electric power steering
I know the EP3 has differnet brakes and a 4 lug
I know it has a different suspention
blah blah blah
But structrual differences... what is the difference?
Does the DC5 have a stiffer chassis then the EP?
Any other differences?
Any and all feedback would be appreciated.
Are the DC5's made in japan?
Arnt the EP3's made in england?
Just trying to get my facts straight

dc5 = made in japan. ep3 = made in england. all k20 variants are made in japan.
the ep3 chassis is shorter in overall length, but has identical wheelbase to the dc5. ep3 has greater torisional stiffness compared to the dc5 due to difference in roof construction, it is also slightly heavier than the dc5 chassis.
dc5-r gets cast aluminium lower control arms.
that's all that comes to mind at this point in time.

You're right on that. I just checked the honda website and it says the '04 EP3's curb weight is 2,782lbs. The Type S comes in at 2,767lbs.
Edit: Front to rear weight distribution is the same between both the EP3 and DC5, 61/39. Sorry, my post didn't help you much in determining the structural differences between both models.

Am I the only one who finds this hilarious ... were talking 15 lbs --- I mean, ****, couldnt that be the difference in weight between the rsx leather seats and the ep3s fake suede seats?
anyone know the actual raw chassis weight?
Im not denying the car is heavier... its just so funny... 15 lbs could be anything.

Well by your theory, since the RSX has leather, then it should weigh more then the '04 EP3 hahahah. The answer to that is no.
I guess the heavier wheels for '04 plus the 5 lug upgrade all contributes to the extra weight the EP3 gained for '04. Now the EP3 is even heavier then the base model RSX; go figure.

if they are basicly the same car, id just buy a 04 EP. Seems pretty cool that they are the same car and the EP is quite a bit less. Spend that 5 grand on a JDM K20R and u have an EP3-R w/ 220 hp

Since its inception, the EP3 has always been heavier than the base RSX. The base RSX weighs in at 2694lbs, making it the lightest of the usdm DC5/EP3 models.
