FINALLY running faster!
Pulled a 14.942 @ 93 mph at the dragstrip. It was just a question of dropping my 60' time (I did a 2.37 on that run, not too great; my best is a 2.309 so a 14.8 is possible) and doing a faster 1-2 shift...
Everyone else w/ B16A CRXs running slower times, persevere. The times are in the cars, it's the driving that's hard

come on people.... im more than sure that a b16 can hit low 14's.... seen them do it... just dont dump the clutch off the line unless you have slicks, it helps alot not to do that....

put it this way, my crx ran 15.4 with the stock motor i/h/e, i would highly expect a b16 to run low 14's if i put times down like that with a sohc non vtec
It all depends on what track you are running at. My local track (LACR) a ef with a b16 stock will run low 15's to high 14's and a stock GSR will run high 15's low 16's

No intake/header/exhaust... c'mon people! I'm IN THE 14's ON STOCK HONDA CRX PARTS HERE! My concessions to performance are 8.5mm plug wires, a K&N drop-in filter, and 195mm Motomaster tires... I'm doing excellent for what I have!
And BTW, I get my best launches at 4000rpm, by just dumping it and peeling out. Sounds slow, but it gets 2.3 second 60' times. Launching smoothly usually results in a 2.4, since you're not in the powerband!
Scary thing is, I'm the fastest CRX at my track... 2nd fastest that I've seen is a ZC-powered one running 15.6.

umm, what kinda cars? not hondas that's for sure. corvettes, prolly, i mean a K&N intake gains like 25hp to the wheels on those(and im talking about the brand new ones too!). but if u take any honda and i/h/e it w/ all the best stuff, it'll give u 10hp at the most, maybe 15 w/ a throttle body.
My B16 ran 14.8 bone stock with a slipping clutch @ 937ft alt. with a 2.5 60ft time. It can do this because it is lighter than an ef8 and I have a non-ef S1 tranny with shorter gearing. This isn't hard to fathom. Now I've put in a GSR fuel pump and I have a drop-in filter and welded on rice muffler. I haven't gotten to the track, but I am dead even with a buddy who has run 14.3s in his ls/vtec EK. I am quite sure that I can run 13s with a new clutch, slicks, and open header. How can I be so sure? Because a friend in his gutted 91 Si ran 13.9 on slicks and open header. This is on an unprepped track at almost 1000ft elevation. You have to keep in mind that there are so many variables at the track....driver shifting speed, air quality, track stickiness, weight, wind, the engine itself, altitude, etc. etc....
a friend of mine with a b18b w/ itr pistons, home made cai, and cheap exhaust ran a 14.0, street tires.... now i heard he has some other setup and suposed to be in 12's.....
I had my rex at the track for the first time this last weekend and my best time was a 14.60 at 100.98mph...with a ZEX kit hooked up...60 ft. times weren't that great, around 2.5-2.6.
We couldn't find the right spot to launch the car with the NT555 Drag radials on it...too low of an rpm the car would bog out. We tried 3000 rpm, then 4, then 5 and at 5500rpm the launch was pretty good.
Once we got moving, we had no problem at all, hence the 100mph+ trap speeds.
Anyone have any recommendations on launching the car?

low to mid 9s. my friend moded his civic with performance i/h/e and after he got his momo steering wheel he went to the track. he did 13.356@105 on street tires. so i asume u are gonna be somewhere in 9s. but u gotta have i/h/e, otherwise nothing will work!
60 ft times are the result of tire size, tire selection, tire temperature and tire pressure, but alot with the driver. If you dump and spin, you stay still. First timers will usually run much slower at the track. (Some guys hit 2.0-2.1 on street tires!) Kerry
so what would a b18c run in a crx?...iv been told a low 14 possible high 13 on slicks...but after this talk about a b16a running high 14 and even 15s kinda screw up my hopes for my car...im hella anxious since my drop is almost done after 9 months of planning and delay....
A guy I know (SunkistCRX) ran a 13.9 with a ZC and slicks in a CRX. I've seen guys running high 13's on slicks with a B16. It depends on setup and driver experience. Got suspension? You should be in the 13's in a CRX on street tires. But, you have to know how to drag race (for the Zexed ZC CRX above and slicks went 13.1). The ZEXED B16 CRX above needs bushings too, I guess it had tonnes of wheel movement. Kerry
is there that much of a difference between a b18c and b16a in a crx?...its only something like 10 hp more...but den again i have the JDM B18C which has more hp due to the higher CR...what im trying to ask is the b18c that much stronger than the b16a where it can pull half a sec faster in the qtr mile
