compressoin/turbo selection for my gsr with full race kit
i'm building a 84mm gsr block with a stock r head, i'm tryin to decide what compressoin to run, leaning kinda towards 10.0?? The car is gonna be a daily driven drag car. I'm also trying to figure out wich turbo to get with my full race kit, i'm leaning toward the 60-1? The car is equipped with hondata and will be fully tuned, so this isn't an issue. i would like to run it on pump gas also.
i used 10:1 lot of guys here like 9:5:1 since its not gonna be as finkiky to tune. either one will work, just upto you.

So all the turbo GSR's and ITR's will blow up eh?
my turbo ls runs 10.2:1. You can make more power with higher compression. Stock sleves have been proven to handle 500 whp by individuals on this board. 10:1 compression is absolutely fine. A higher compression just leaves less room for error. Tune it right, there will be no issues with that comp ratio.

Not necissarily but the compression helps spool and allows more power with lower boost levels.

ya, thats is true, but i want the compressor to be in it's efficiency range, and i'm not too familiar with the sc60-1 basically i'm tryin to figure out what compressoin and compressor to run with my setup thats listed above

Hold on now...are you going with the 60-1 or the SC61? Two very different turbos. The boost you plan to run is going to play the major role in deciding whether or not the turbo is in it's efficiency range. Doa search on either turbo and tons of info will pop up as well as dyno. that will give you an idea of spool times and HP # with different setups.

I would recommend 9.8:1. I went with 9.2:1 but I would of went with 9.8:1 or 10.0:1 now. A certain member with an SC63 is going to run 10.5:1 in January
i like low compression. that way we can run lots of boost on pump gas. you can go higher compression and make a little more at the same level of boost but there is a lower threshold for pump gas. we run 20-25psi all day long on pump w/no problem.

wow, thats pretty steep, i'm not sure, which turbo comes with the stage one full race kit, is it the sc or t3 60-1?? i'm just tryin to figure it out, i'd like to run around 20psi at the track and what not, but with that much power on the street i'll prolly stick somewhere around 10psi daily
well then i guess i'm planning on running the t3 60-1, i'll try to do a search and see what i can't come up with, but i'm still a little leary on what compressoin to go with, i don't wanna be extremly low, yet from the sounds of things using boost instead of the compression i can yeild safer numbers on pump gas?

yea i think i'm gonna go like 9.5 or 9.8 now this brings me to my next dilema, i've been told by a few people to upgrade to the sc 60-1......is this turbo ball bearing, and if i wanna run like 18-22lbs of boost for the track, will this turbo be good for that at about 9.5 compressoin??

I like to keep the dynamics of the motor close to stock. My gsr motor im building it to 10:1. If i had built the LS i woulda went w/ 9.2:1.. The GSR will be a daily driver 10:1 compression @ 10-11psi on pump gas. I really don't care what the car runs on pump gas though, race gas is safer and you can have the best of both worlds. High Compression & High Boost!!!
honestly i dont see the point of high compression with a turbo. one lb of added boost will make more power than 1 point of compression and the overall compression ratio will be less. for street cars i say run lower, whats the fun of being able to have a turbo if you cant run around on full boost all day cause you gota worry about finding some race gas.
