Is it bad to go for awhile with the valves being out of adjustment? (slight tapping rpm specific)

I goofed on the adjustment when I did it last and especially noticable when you first head out, the rockers... "rattle" a bit somewhere between 1k and 3 k but is not noticable at a set speed, usually only on acceleration.
Iv been meaning to get them adjusted right, but anyway, at what point will this hurt the engine you think? There are no mechanical problems or burning oil at all, just the noise.

thanks, sohc

My instincts would say yes......just because if your valves aren't tightened thats when they make that rattling sound, its just extra wear on those parts: pushrod, springs, rocker etc. Granted everything is oil lubed up but still who needs extra wear on metal? NOBODY. My guess would be that you just shorted the life of your engine a little bit......but its a honda.
