ITR suspension on an 88 CRX?
I know the ITR rear shocks/springs will fit on an 88 CRX, how about the front shocks and springs? My stock **** is gone and needs replacing, I can get ITR stuff from jdmhondaparts for a pretty good deal.
any help appreciated.

I am pretty sure the fronts will fit on the CRX.
The rears will only fit on an 88 CRX Si model, though. The rear LCAs on the 88 CRX Si are the same as the Type R.

Take a pic of your rear LCA and I can tell ya for sure.
I am very sure the Si model is the only one with the ITR sytle LCA.
The Type R LCA kind of looks like this from the side (please excuse my very crude drawing):

Ahh, I found a better picture (taken from http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com)

The LCA on the right (#18, #21) is the Type R style LCA.

Lol, thanx for the visual breaka_1_9. I've got an 88 HF and I'm pretty sure it looks something to that affect, haven't studied it too much, I just know it's different from the setup on my 91 Si CRX
I could be mistaken as I thought only the 88 CRX Si models had the ITR style LCAs. It could be on all 88 CRXs...
Let me know what you find out so I don't give misinformation next time...
Thanks!

finally, the answer i been looking for..... so this means i can order up some JDM supsension for a ITR and it will fit my 88si?? if so this kix ***..... one question, since the ITR suspension fits on the back, does it mean that i can put ITR suspension all around on the 4 corners???
I thought you needed the front forks from a 92-95 civic in order for the ITR front shocks to fit? please correct me if I am wrong, I have a brand new set of front ITR shocks and springs, and I want to put them on my 89 CRX Si...
Pretty much yeah, We're still hammering out the details like ride height and camber. but yeah they will bolt up a an 88 model CRX. What we've some up with so far is that the 88 models use a Type-R style LCA.
With this said, the Type-R style LCA allows for a slight passive steering affect in the rear of the equipped car. This makes the car alittle more tail happy that the 89-91 models. This does however provide for a better handling car in most situations.
Beware tho, if one imprperly matches a set of front/rear anti-sway bars the car wil get VERY tail happy in hard cornering. Always increase the bar size proportionally to each other, or as close to proptional as possible.
Some yet un-confrimeded/disputed assertations:
You would need to use the Type-R/5/6th gen civic shock forks up front.
The Type-R suspension would raise the ride height of your car approximately 1", and give the car a positive camber hence the need for a decent set of lowering spings to correct this
feel free to add

Type R and 5th gen civic forks are the same. DC's and EG's have the same suspension. 6th gen civic's have a little different suspension in the back.
so would it be worth it to order up some Tein, apexi, or tanabe suspension setup for a ITR and throw it on my crx??? are the 5&6g civic front strut forks the only thing i would need??? would the suspension for hte ITR make my crx feel better than with suspension for the crx???
Hold on there, we are talking about replacing stock CRX shocks/springs with the stock (although much more performance oriented) shocks/springs for an ITR. This should be plenty stiff for our CRXs. Seeing as how the weight diffenece alone is nearly 500~700 lbs depening on the trim of your CRX. The stock ITR stuff should hold our little paper weights to the ground quite nicely.
An after market even stiffer suspension setup? You're in the grey area now. Plus Tein, APEX-i, or Tanabe are exorbitantly expensive, I highly doubt it would be worth the money.
my opinion tho......just something to think about.

so your saying a good enough setup would be stock ITR shocks with some springs to drop it some... and that should be stiff and low with a setup like that right.... btw, teins only cost like 1500hehe.....
Exatly.
I'm doing some research on various parts sites. Cross referencing part #'s betweenthe ITR and 88's And it seems that the Koni makes shocks for the 88 models. 2 falvors a std and "sport". They also make shocks for the ITR only in "sport" flavor wich has the same part # for the rear as the 88 "sport" set.
Dunno if that is relavent, but I put it to the table anyway.......

If you want aftermarket stuff just get it for the CRX. I ordered some Tein HA's already, I should be getting them in a week or two. I'll let you know how they work out. The EG/DC suspension parts are taller than the EF parts. I would just stay with the 4 lug setup and get performance shocks/springs. It would cost a lot less than the ITR suspension swap.
This is true, also. Saying " I got ITR suspension" isn't that big of a deal anyways. I'l polly gonna get a set of Tokico blues or Koni's. Dunno if i'll get springs or not, i don't really wanna lower my car any. I likes my sleeper look. Having the ITR style rear suspension is good enough
I'm prolly gonna have to replace my rear LCA bushings......ugh. Polyurethane replacements are cheap tho.

i have a set of tein ha's in my 88 Si, works wonders cornering at high speeds (not that i do that often
) although i can't say the ride is enjoyable tho...especially if you set the dampers to the stiffest setting *OUCH* if you want to know if its worth it....IMO...not really unless u plan on doing some serious auto X ing...but i'm still glad i got them kekeke
