Anyone break 3 CV joints with one launch?
Actually that happened to me a week ago. I took my 98 R with 12K miles to the dragstrip. I used Brigestone RE540s tires @ 18PSI. I did the usual burnout... and launched at 5500/6000RPM as usual. The car gripped like hell! and seemed to bounce... as a result a 2.0 60FT was made! I felt the dash coming to my face! Never did the car grip this way. I continued my run and everything seemed ok, no unusual noises. After this I tried again, launched a bit a higher revs and as I moved off the line a huge vibration and clunking noise came from the car
I went to my mechanic and he told me that it could be a broken cv joint. He removed the left axle and yes both inner and outer cv joints where damaged. I took my car for a spin and the clunking noise could be heard again! Back to his garage ; he removed the right axle and the inner cv joint was damaged too!! So 3 cv joint broken! To confirm this we installed another axle, took my car for a spin and the clunking noise was gone.
Has this ever happened to anyone of you? Do you think the damge was done because I have weared engine mounts? Should get stronger mounts? Keep in mind the my R still has 12K miles and was taken to the dragstrip about 6 times.

I broke my stock axles during the break-in period after I installed my JUN pistons. I didn't even launch hard, I justleft from a stoplight and the car started to vibrate like crazy and made all sorts of wierd noises. It sucked that I broke the axle but at least I knew that I was making more power, lol. So I bought some DSS stage III's.
