okay, im a newbie to car alarms. ive heard that there's an alarm where you have to punch in codes every time you you drive it in order for the engine to run and without the code, the engine will turn off. does anyone know what the alarm is called? how much? and where i can get it?
Alarms with anti-carjacking features work this way. Specifically, Clifford offers the feature through a product called BlackJack. It's standard on some models but you can buy it also as and add-on. Autopage also offers the same feature on some of their models. I just installed the RF-850LCD which is a 2-way unit with remote start. It's a very nice unit that can make your car very secure while giving you convenience. For more info check out:

For prices, you'll have to check your local dealers. Costs can vary in different parts of the country. I bought my Autopage off of Ebay for around $200. For an experienced installer, Ebay is not a bad choice but for a consumer I would recommend going with a local dealer so that you won't have any warranty issues.

From: Good luck to this industry, you're gonna need it.
I actually work for a rep firm in the SE that distributes DEI. The Avital version of the 2-way (Avital 4400) is pretty much the same excepet you (HondaDriver4Life) get a nicer display and ur's works on FM rather than mine on AM frequencies. DEI also has a part #103T called the Failsafe ESP Keypad w/ Starter Kill. It will do what you (Pennies_hatchie) asked about as far as a keypad. Frankly though the keypad thing is kind of a eye sore unless you hide it. The two way would be the better way to go. I finally got my alarm, second shock, proximity sensor and tilt sensor in and with the two way transmitter I/(one) can't go wrong. The remote goes off/beeps if your alarm does ANYTHING...warnaway/instant trigger/or hood pin. I repeat, you CAN NOT go wrong with an alarm like this.
Sorry to copy your idea HD4L but here's the web page... http://www.directed.com .
Good luck
