Default Swaps in California

Looking to possibly swap a B16A3 into my EG, since I live in California, the engine MUST be a B16A3 in order for me to take the car to the ref and get it legalized. I know some will say that they have had luck with JDM engines, but I just don't want to take the chance. The engine swap quidelines on the BAR website state that the engine MUST be a USDM engine, they also state that it needs to be a California engine...Anyone have luck getting this particular engine from one of the engine shops? Basically what I want to know is that if I specifically call for a B16A3 what are the chances that they will just send me a JDM B16A?

not necessarily true....good luck finding that exact motor!!! you can pass bar with a jdm motor, as long as everything is hooked up the way it should be!!!

What about the ECU? Would you have to use the JDM ECU or do you have to find a USDM ECU?
