Since many of you traveled through the turnpike tunnels on your way out to Beaver Run this past May i just thought i would share. Well, for the longest time i have wanted to rip through the tunnels on the PA turnpike just to hear vtec blaring off the walls. Well fortunately for me after blowing my turbo b16 in my 2000 si, i fell into a deal with a jdm itr b18c here about two months ago, and i just put on my dc header and comptech icebox. Well i hadnt had any reason just to hop on the turnpike and go ripping throught the tunnels but i knew that Thanksgiving was quickly coming and i would be heading that way. So the day arrives and i am approaching the tunnels. Well my passes going west were not all that fun because i couldnt really open it up because traffic was so congested. On my way back east the roads were a lot less busy so i actually pulled off right before the tunnels just to let everything in sight go by for safety. So once all traffic had cleared i pulled out and immediately ripped through the entrance of the first tunnel at about 7500 rpms in first and just let the it ring the whole way through the fifth gear doing about 120mph. Vtec blared off the tunnnel walls like no other. I rolled down the windows and opened the sunroof just so i could hear it that much louder. I know a lot of you guys got to do the same on your way out to Expo3, i cant even imagine what it sounded like in multiples.

 

No...NO VTEC and 10K RPM and ITBs and Tunnels = Best Sound EvAR!!!!!

 

Just ask John aka (00MRSi), he was in front of me in the tunnels on the way back from Expo3. I'm sure he heard me

Cars flying out of the way, not knowing where the thunder is coming from thinking it's a terror attack on NY's tunnel and bridge system and, and, sorry just got aroused!

 

Hell yeah....all i have to say is that i wish i could have been along. Isnt that the most insane sound ever though. The whole way through the tunnel going west people just looked at me like what wtf. And opie....hell yeah its arousing!!

just myself goin' through the tunnels in my R'd up GS-R kicks ****!!!

 

Best car engine sound EVAR or echoing in a tunnel would have to be a Ferrari F355 or 360. ITR at full blast sounds good too tho.

 

Don't do it with open header......you'll seriously make you and your passengers deaf. No joke.

I attempted somewhat of the same things in the tunnels on the 5 by Downtown LA when I picked up my GSR. Semi-successful, but arousing nonetheless . I need a big stretch of tunnel, muahahHAHAHA.

 

Damn, I wish we had tunnels in Florida.

yes romping it in tunnels is fun, only sucks if a cop is in the tunnel with ya

 

Couple that 8500rpm with a BOV and a turbo spooling and it's even sweeter

Just imagine having a whole group of ITR's blasting by you in a tunnel. Turbo Type-R, buddy club spec III, mugen twin-loop, H.I.D's.... you better believe it sounds good! (looks good too )

how long are these tunnels? the cumberland gap tunnel is just under a mile, and i go through it on a daily basis....there is nothing better than WOT in third...vtec or not
