Default Good MP3 Car Stereo?

I'm looking to get an MP3 car stereo but I don't want a low-end unit. What are some decent units with MP3 playback? Wattage is not a concern since I'll be powering it with an external amp. I don't want to spend more than $300.

Crutchfield has the Alpine CDA-7995 on sale for $300 w/ free shipping and install kit.

I just picked up one myself.

I have a Panasonic MXE CQ-DFX983U in my car and it works excellent. Sounds great and has a nice display. Its $329 on crutchfield, but I baught mine of ebay for around $250 shipped. No complaints here, great features and very quick mp3 load time, about the same as a regular cd. If you want the ebay seller I got it from just lemme know.

I like my kenwood excelon, but they don't make it anymore and the new kenwoods have a weird face. I have been looking into that Panasonic that bucsjosh mentioned. I think you might need to raise your budget a little or take a chance on ebay.

I'm really happy with my Kenwood KDC-MP522. It cost $165 (plus shipping; $20) at http://www.mandalaynet.com
It has built in high pass and low pass circuitry, and System Q confiqs. Sounds great. Theres a decent description at Crutchfield. http://www.crutchfield.com/S-J...MP522

ebay's not really too much of a risk as long as you buy from a Seller with a decent rating, i'm talking like around 500 or atleast in the 1000's. Like I said, i had no problem from the place I buaght my deck from.

Anybody know much about Pioneer's DEH-P850MP? I've never used Pioneer. I'm a Clarion fanatic. Is that Pioneer any good?

look for the 9815 for around $350 ... much better buy than the 7995 for the extra $50..

Both decks are lovely though
