Default Why ppl swap JDM DC5R than USDM Type S into their Base RSX ??

I am just starting a project to have a JDM R's engine into a base model RSX but my friends told me that just getting the USDM Type S instead. The reason I want a JDM one is that I gonna use a lot of JDM's parts ( electronic wise ). So I have less problems with them. Like I dont need nothing to use a Mugen ECU if I have evreything in JDM's R... Am i on the wrong track.....let me know casue I am new to that ..... Or can I buy all the electronic stuffs off from JDM, and buy the head and block from here..so I still can solve the problem right....I think it gonna cheaper than I buy the whole set from Japan. Interior components like cam and stuffs, I dont care becasuse I will change them anyway later when I have more money for them THANK YOU

If it were me, I'd probably go with the JDM swap...as long as I wasn't raped on it.
There is some nice equipment on the K20A. But you might want B18CXR to help with this one...He has first hand knowledge on the differences...I guess my first question would be are you staying N/A or do you plan on forced induction?

if u were to swap in a k20a into ur car would u still have ac and power steering? i was always under the impression that type-r hondas had ac as an option.....

Actually the DC5R's option is to not have A/C. They automatically come with A/C now. The EP3, DC2, and EK9 the A/C was an option.

if you get a k20a2 over a k20a you can use the extra cash to buy a toda engine kit and youll be up to about 220 whp with intake and exhaust....

if money is no object, then the k20A but else, the Type S power plant is very potent as well. EP hatch guys will jump all over this soon or later...

well you'd get the lsd lol...
k20a2 = 2500-3000
toda kit = 2000
total = 225 whp
vs
k20a = 4500 - 5500
total = 196 whp

i would rather have a quaife LSD than a factory one. The only things that i would want off of the K20A motor would be the intake manifold, and maybe the final drive gearing. Everything else i would want to swap out with a better aftermarket part. So do what i did, get the K20A2 motor, save yourself some money, and buy some aftermarket parts to boot.
