hey guys i never own a honda be for can u help me? i want to get a 92-95 civic 5 speed trany.. Tomore o im going to a car auction and might buy one there can u give me some advies on what to check and look for when buying one i dont want to get ripet off.. And is alright to buy one that has over 150kms... i have saved my money and have $5gs saved (they let u drive the car be 4 u buy them there)

 

gun it and shift as fast as u can to see if the synchros are good and then take a turn at around 45 mph to how the springs are, serioiusly though make sure it shifts smooth and the clutch engages when it should and holds tight, no slippage, and u might actually want to try shifting fast to see how bad the synchros have become

 

If you are looking for performance I recommend the EX or Si models. They have more horsepower and better gearing in the transmission. Also, take a flashlight with you. Remove the oil cap and look inside. The metal should have a light grey to slightly yellow color. If it is brown or red the oil has not been changed regularly.

 

Just get a Coupe or Hatch with a straight body, such as no rust, no dent, or door dings!! then check under hood for condition, if you can test drive it..try to drive and listen for any mechanical noise, low mileage help too!!--make sure it have a clean title!!

 

well if you plan to do a motor swap at some point, i'd be a lot more concerned with the condition of the body. just as long as it runs well enough for you to drive for a few months or so.

if you plan on keeping the motor, do a compression check
