Default ITR vs. 8 pt. buck Well.....not good

2001 PY #0070
It's unfortunate how many deer are in central new jersey.

About 2 AM Sunday morning, driving on one of the main local roads to go drop off my friend after a night on the town. Going around a 40mph right hand curve going about 50 mph, didn't think it would be that big a deal. Gradually accelerating through the turn, just about halfway through the turn, a fairly decent sized buck runs out from the right into my lane of travel. For a split second, i froze until i swerved out of the way. (looking back now, it would have been better to just hit the ****.) I managed to get around him without him running into my car. No problems there. It's after the turn as the car began to fishtail, and it transitioned to a spin. Perhaps 4th gear didn't have enough power to keep the back where it should have been. Sure enough, car is rotating, side of the road is coming up with a few trees. Not good. End result: A totaled Type R that I've only had for 4 months. I think I've had this feeling before, oh yeah, its like getting my heart broken. I'm pretty sure it'll get totaled. Doubt anyone can straighten out the rear frame and everything else along with it.

Before:

After:

On the good note, my friend and I walked away completely fine from it. Now it's just waiting to hear from insurance about how much I'll get back for comprehensive. Talked to the state police and just waiting for a police report back from them. Luckily the troopers were from the area and know about the deer problem, so hopefully the police report will be even more beneficial towards the case with insurance.

In terms of what's next, I don't know. I'm still in shock. Only 4 months with her and only to have mother nature throw something in the way and I cann't handle it.

It's been a bad weekend for the Type R family, first mine, then yours, and I think one was stolen as well. Sorry for your loss, I don't feel so bad about mine only getting lightly hit now.

Ouch!

I hit a deer (actually it hit ME) several months ago in my rex.
Nothig that serious though, only took out a front corner marker, cracked the passenger fender and the piece between the headlights (since it only walked in front of me on its "second try").

Good noone got hurt!

Sorry to hear about that. I hit a dear in a 3.2 CL once... the deer didn't fair as well as the car. Hopefully something good comes out of your situation.

I can understand where you are coming from. I lost my transmission to a cement pipe by swerving to miss a deer. But anyway sorry for your loss

Ouch man!...Another R messed up. It's gonna be totaled for sure with that kind of damage. If I were you, I'd buy it back, part it out, then sell to the junk yard. Or if you're really spirited (Sounds dopey) get the R fixed...

Damn, sounds like my first day with my R. I bought it last spring and had to go straight to work, nightshift, on a Friday. Coming home at 3 am after work i came as close as is possible to hitting a deer, without hitting it, on a highway on-ramp. First night i had it! Luckily i didn't lose control after i swerved. Sorry about the bad luck, hope things work out.
