Default intermittent erratic down shifting in a accord ex 95 in BRAZIL!!

Hy all.. i'm new in the forum and i hope you could help me. I boutgh about a month and a half a 95 accord EX. It's a very nice and well mainteined car. It's 105K Km or about 70 K miles.

But it have a intermittent problem ( in this time it happen for 3 times ). The tranny changes from 1s to 2nd normally but don't change to 3rd. Sometimes it go to 3rd but suddenly it reduces to 2nd rainsing the rpm.

In the last time, i traveled for 700K miles normally and in the last 70 Miles it started to reduce to 2nd. I saw that in 3rd and in a high rpm it stays.. but if i release the trhotle it reduce to 2nd. In the 4rd, no way cause it goes to 2nd.

When i came out of the road, the gear was working fine till 2nd. Went to my house turned off the engines... when a turned on a hour later.. IT WAS NORMAL!!

I guess it can be a electronic problem..

Do anybody know something that can help me??

Thanks in advance...

if it's still under warranty get them to look at it, could be electronic could be a physical problem in the tranny, usually extended warranties cover anything in the transmission case and sometimes the electronic control module. Then again things might be different in Brazil.

Thank you Matix and Briq4.
Before the last problem, i travel about 600 K miles without any problema.

The shifting occurs normally and very pretty! It['s difficult to realize that the problem is hidraulic or mechenic.

I just have a 3 month warranty from a particular dealer. A mechanic told me that its need to open the tranny.

The honda dealer told me that it would be difficult to diagnose without the problem ocurring. Tomorrow i will leave the car in Honda to try a diagnostic.

Thanks again!

Hi All,

I got a diagnostic from Honda. They told that the only annormality detected were the resistance (ohms) of the solenoid valves. They were greater than the nominal value.

This part is very expensive in Brazil, about US$ 300 and i'm not sure if it will solve the problem.

The valve is worling always at the same way.. and why just 3 times the problem happen.

Thank you for any contribution!
