Makin 215whp but using a stock ITR exhuast HELP!!!!!
Ok i went to track masters down in So-Cal got my car dynoed and all good to go. But the thing is that i really dont want to have one of those huge-loud ricey exhuasts. I make a good amount of HP but do you think i would be better off switching to a skunk 2? Loud exhuast=cops poppin the hood and the rice boy effect. please help with suggestions with what i can do or oppions. I know the stock ITR exhuast is supposed to be better than a gsr's but will it cut it? Also the guys at the muffiler shop where i got my test pipe put in said that the noise my muffiler is makin trying to push all the air out is gonna blow a whole in it. So what do you guys think
I have heard some good things about accordinglydone (kteller8---is a dealer, I think). Considering giving them a try.

As for blowing a hole in the muffler, that's news to me. Been running more than 200whp for over 2 years on a stock ITR muffler and it's not blown yet.

yeah you can, happen to my friends type R exhaust, he was making only 195whp,switch it to a magnaflow exhaust and was at 197whp but the he gain like 2-3 whp thoughout the whole rev.
RS*R
I know for a fact that Apexi World Sport has a bottleneck exhaust and will not be free flowing (therefore will clog up your power).
But those 2 are quiet.
to my knowledge test pipes make the car fairly loud, maybe you should look into a hi flow cat instead.

Magnaflow gets my vote
i've been running a magnaflow 3" on my car for almost year now, the thing is super quiet, infact most people don't even know i have an exhaust, from the rear it just looks like a stock itr muffler.
I love it, plus you don't have to spend an arm and a leg to get one

At 215whp, i would not recommend apex ws or the rsr. They are great products but at that power they just become bottlenecks unfortunately. Look into hytech's twin pass muffler or mugen's twinloop. they are both quiet and flow well.
you got pm, I have a old school RSR full exhaust for EK for sale. These are very rare, and haven't been made imported to the US for 2-3 years.

Have you considered a Electric Cut-out? and put it after the header in place of the straight pipe/cat?? Just my thought, that way you can keep the stock look and pop it open when you wanna run.
The electric saves time over the manual one where you gotta get under and unscrew the plate. But the only downside that i've heard is that the motor gives out after awhile (not sure how long).

That's what I went with. Custom Mandrel bent 2.5" piping with a 18" resonator (I think, maybe 21" can't remember) and a Magnaflow ES style muffler.
It is of course louder than stock, but not even close to 90% of the exhaust systems out there. The key to any exhaust to keep it from sounding like utter crap is a resonator. The main thing that bothers me is the sound an unresonated car makes when it lets off the throttle. That raspy, vibrating buzz sound is terrible.
KTeller exhaust + 2 cans of high temp black paint + stock tip= sleeper exhaust
Or be like me and don't get a tip and just leave it black. Da new ActiveAero trend yo!

I'm using a similar set up (2.5piping and test pipe/ES muff/2.5 res), and with the resonator, it's very quiet, not raspy at all.

How many inches is your resonator?

i have the kteller setup, 22" resonator and magnaflow muffler. sounds great but it is a bit loud compared to chambered mufflers.
KTeller8's Accordingly Done mandrel bent 2.5" or 3" is the way to go (size depends somewhat on how you're making your power). instead of resonators (or a cat), i'm trying 2 moroso spiral flow "mufflers" and a perforated 'stealth cone' welded into the tailpipe (after the spirals). the stealth cone isn't cheap, but at least it's SS, so you can use it for much longer, but those moroso spirals are only ~$45/per, and even for mild steel that's really cheap. like activeaero said, get some flat-black rustoleum with your savings and it shouldn't be too loud or 8L!N6 (y0!), and will be far less restrictive and buzzy than most.

I believe it's 18inches.
