Suspension upgrade
Even though my car is mostly street driven, I track the car quite a bit during summer and I've decided to look into some suspension upgrades. My car is currently on H&R springs (euro spec) and stock shocks. Since I'm not very happy with this setup I was thinking coilovers could be the way to go. Since I'm a newbie in the area, I wonder what precisely are the difference between coilovers and regular spring/shocks? What are the advantages/disadvantages?
My car has 65000km on it. Should I also change bushings (to polyuretan or something) if I go ahed with the suspension upgrade?

What is it that you're unhappy with?
I was fairly happy with my H&R's on stock shocks, and was wondering what you'd like to finesse some more suspension wise?
Could be that the stock shocks are just gone ...
In which case I'd look into some moderately priced (~1500$ USD kits).

The H&R springs sucks for tracking/spirited driving because they are progressive. Specially on bumby roads they are horrible. Period. But that's off topic in this thread. Can't anyone give an answer to my first post??

I think you should consult with Sven about the IDOL/Eibach coilovers...at the very least, a higher end coilover will let you run much higher springrates while still maintaining acceptable ride quality; if you opt for aluminum bodied shocks (like Zeal S6) you'll also shed approx. 3-4 lbs per corner
I've thought about the Idol coilovers, but they're a bit expensive. I can get some used H&R coilovers in good shape to a ok price. Anyone have experience with them??
1200 bucks for our Idol/Eibach suspension including a Nurburging/streetable setting (means car is not tooooo low but stiff, so you can run roads with bumps and hills easily and safe).
Add the cost for shipping, tax, duty if you have to pay. That`s what I can offer.

The springs on the Idol coilovers look progressive:
The H&R springs that I'm currently running are progressive, and they suck bad when running through low speed left-right combos where you go on and off the throttle a lot. How well do you think the Idol coilovers work under those circumstances??

1st) You can have every spring and spring rate you want
2nd) Yes, those are progressive springs because this is a slalom suspension
3rd) I`m running progressive springs too and the suspension works fine on the Ring or tracks like Spa

Me and my friends of mine are probably going to Germany to the summer. Perhaps I'll swing by Idol for some coilovers then
By the way, are those stainless/aluminium? Winters i Norway = salt and the roads = rust = bad.
