2001 GSR swap into a 97 Civic DX question.
I'm doing a 2001 GSR swap into a 97 Civic DX. As far as the ECU is concerned.....Can I use the 2001 ECU that'll come with the motor or do I have to go with a 1996 or 1997 GSR ECU?? If not a 96 or 97 ECU....then which ones could I use??
Also, is it really necessary to go with a 2000 Si shift linkage for this swap??

You can use the ECU that comes with the motor. As far as I know, you don't need the Si shift linkage. Haven't heard anything on the GSR not working in your year civic. You will need the rear engine mount from the Si though. I think you can pick one up new for about $50.

Since your car is OBD2 and the 2000-01 Integra is OBD2B the ECU will not plug in due to ECU plug differences. I assume the engine/ECU is USDM which would also pose the problem of the ECU having an immobilizer as well.
If you need/want to stay OBD2 then you should get a 96-99 P72 ECU. This will work in your chassis much easier. Another option would be an OBD2 to OBD1 jumper harness and an OBD1 P72 ECU which would be better for performance.

No it's not necessary. If you are getting the GSR shift linkage then you will be fine. If not then any 94-01 Integra or 99-00 Civic Si shift linkage will work.

I don't know why, but for some reason the GSR shifter throws in my car(I used GSR linkage) are shorter compared to my friends 2000 Si.
