Body shop guys...need some glue help...
My integra i just bought came with a rear wing from the previous owner and i'm thinking of shaving it. It is a 3pc wing with the two side parts glued to each rear quarter panel which line up with the main wing on the hatch (it's a low flush wing, not some uge thing). my question is about the glue used, it seems to be some sort of apoxy or silicone...it looks like dried hot glue in the areas i can see a bit of it. i was wondering how i could get this glue loosened enough to pull the wing parts off without removing paint, then remove the leftover glue again without killing the paint. the car will eventually (spring if funds are good) get a respray but i want to shave the wing now and save the paint that it is glued to as best as possible. is this possible, what stuff do i need to get this off and not kill the car? any help would be great, i'm sorry i don't know what type of glue is used which would be of more help but if you are a body shop guy, you may have some tricks and tips and that would be great...any help would be great. thanks.

I had a similar problem with my car. previous owner glued the rear quarter panel molding back on. It was really hard to get the glue off. not all of it came off. I took a heat gun to the glue and with my finger nail, as there isn't much you can use that won;t scratch the paint, I scraped off the glue. good luck
thanks for the tip...i talked to a friend who deos some body work, he said try a heatgun on a setting a bit warmer than a hairdryer on high so you wont bubble the paint and pull slowly and gently to get them off, any remaining glue residue can be removed with goo gone or 3M adhesive remover...does this sound like a safe plan anyone? thanks
