EM1 vs EP3
I have been thinking about both. I can't decide though. Which one is a better overall buy? What are the strengths and weaknesses of both? I have been driving my friend's 2000 Si and I must say I'm pretty impressed. I have never driven an EP3. Give me why you like one or the other.
Or if this has already been covered, direct me to some links that will give a good explaination. Or just post. I tried searching but didn't really know what to search for yay it's late damn.

New or old. Its really up to you. I am sure you can find new ep3 for cheap price at dealer now days. PLENTY left over 03 si's. I would say go with ep3, start with new. pimp jdm shietz.
better ride in the ep3
better interior in the ep3
better chasis in the ep3
arguably better engine in the ep3
better tranny/shifter in the ep3
less noise in the ep3
quicker/cheaper mods for making a drag car in the em1
IMO.

I have an EP3 as a work vehicle. It averages about 120 miles per day in all kinds of driving conditions from stop and go traffic in Arlington to 70 mile per hour suburban driving on the way to Culpeper.
It's a very pleasant, modern, tight, decently performing vehicle, and I don't hesitate to recommend that people should buy one, as long as they can get it for around $16,000 and as long as they know they're not buying a sports car!

Just for comparsion, if you were to swap a K20A2 from a type-s or JMD type-r engine into an EP3. The type-s engine and tranny combo are 22lbs lighter and 6" shorter than a b18c5. I would get the EP3, but I love my DC5-S

I had the gsr guess what i bought.... I took this car because i do not need to spend 4k boring the motor to a 2.0 and buying all new internals to make in torquey guess what this car has that my gsr does not....
I would say ep3 all the way type s head and high comp pistons , type r intake manifold and hondata you are in the 13's all motor. Gsr on the other hand it takes a little more than that i had some things from toda, and various companys for the gsr when i got rid of it. Had no time to drop the spec B's in but i sure would have liked to see what they would have done

Then I guess you haven't driven/raced an EP3 with a few boltons + Hondata. The car pulls hard all the way to redline. Maybe not B18C5 hard, but it certainly doesn't fall off anymore.
For the record, I like the K series motor the best from what I have experienced so far, but the older suspension makes for a car with more 'feel' if you will. The new chassis + the Macstruts leaves the car feeling a little vague until you really tear into the suspension and do it right.

em1 by far...ive driven both and the ep3 felt gutless to me...i liked the way the shifter feels but thats about it...imo the em1 felt way more powerful...i like both cars but if i had to choose..id take the em1...the only thing i didnt like about the em1 was that it was somewhat on the heavy side
i owned a 2000 FBP si coupe before i owned my 2002 NBP si hatch.
I can say without a doubt that I like the ep3 much better as a daily driver and as a car to tinker with. The engine is better than the b16 IMO. I haven't needed much in the way of boltons to pull on em1 si's. And that especially goes for top end (3rd gear and up). The em1 si has longer gearing which helps it nose up during upshifts sometimes. The stock 1/4 mile times i've run are similar to what the em1's run.
Not to mention for the ep3, you can get all sorts of goodies like JDM HID headlights, 6spd transmission, you can fit 225 wide tires in with no problems, and the hatch gives you more useable trunk space than the coupe.
Going from the ep3 interior to the em1 interior is like stepping into a time warp, the em1 interior seems so dated compared to the ep3.
that's my .02
