Yes it is a cheap alternative. Mandrel bends are inexspensive. We have had quite a bit made. They work pretty well. Good luck~!~!

(2) of my freinds are using that setup... both of them had it done for their turbo downpipes, and one of them is getting his exhaust done with it soon. so, yea, it works good.

you can use mandrel piping , if your getting just elbows and trying to do it that way i wouldnt really go that route.. just to much time/effort for what you can get full prefab kits for

I've done a few systems with the U and J bends from Summit/Jegs and it cost about the same and is much easier to order them pre-bent from here http://www.accordinglydone.com/store/catalog/

I did. I spent $113 total for (1) mandrel U-bend, 4ft of piping from my exhaust shop, and (2) resonators.

This was just for my midpipe though. I have a mugen twinloop muffler.

for another 50-60 bucks you could of had a full fledge catback done.. and not had to prefab.cut, weld and create your own system

I helped make one yesterday-- I don't think I'll ever buy a name brand exhaust again-- unless its for a show car.

true, but I don't have a cat, so I used two resonators instead, and still it was cheaper. 50-60 bucks is good amount of money when you are in college. Plus its money that I used towards dyno time. Besides, your systems dont inlcude a muffler or resonators. $185 for piping, $90 for resonators and $100 for a muffler. I already had a axleback section.

Trust me, I almost bought one of your piping setups, but I had to be a penny pincher at the moment.

true, with your axleback there is your muffler , the piping with a resonator would be long enough to bypass the cat so there is that answer
but its cool, good luck!

i did this. i bought the bends from magnaflow that i needed. i bought a magnaflow resonator and i have a JUN titanium muffler. this set up made 13whp over the tanabe hyper madallion exhaust. i was amazed. it also is alot cheaper than the tanabe set up other than the JUN muffler. the piping was 2.5 in as opposed to the 60 mm of the tanabe. good luck
