Can you identify an auto transmission by the number of solonoids?

Default Can you identify an auto transmission by the number of solonoids?

Just wonderin...I searched aroudn but couldnt find anythnig..

I wanted to know, if an automatic transmission contains only one solonoid does that mean its

a three-speed auto tranny?

and if it contains two its a four speed auto tranny?

umm nope not really, mine only has one and its a 4 speed.. to my knowledge there aren't any 3 speeds.. at least not in 4th gen civic's
