Anyone with a 2004 CRV?
I was wondering if anyone has the 2004 CRV. If so, do you have anything done to it? There are a few things I SHOULD have gotten with the car, as a package. Like the luggage rack and trailer hitch.
I would like to see some fixed up CRVs. I don't think I would do anything to mine for a while though.
I have a run of my done with a G-Tech, if anyone cares. I just need to put it on the web somewhere.

there are a few guys on hondasuv.com that have added rims, springs and such....just to make things a lil' bit different.
One thing that IMO looks really good are the fog lights. Hondasuv.com carries carryboy's which are oem replica's and would be the only oem mod that i would want on it.
Good Luck with your new vehicle!

Here is the run using the G-Tech. If you would like to see the hp chart or any others, let me know. To the right, you can see the Maximum hp and torque.
wow...i should really try to get me one of those done...so i can see the differences from the basic bolt ons that i'm going to be doing in the spring.
It calculates everything. The manual for this thing is like 170 pages long. It can calculate when you are shifting, if the tires are spinning, the RPM at what speed, and there also are two drag strip modes. One has where you just take off and it will automaticly start the timer. (I use) Then there is the one with the track tree. Where you can actually practice your reaction time. It's a lot smaller, but it's a really cool toy.
I debated getting it, but eventually broke down and got it for my car. I haven't done any runs with my car, after calibrating it, only the CRV. The CRV is auto and the civic is manual. I'm not getting decent runs, because my shifting and wheel spinning SUCKS!

Just a quick note... 2G CR-V's weigh about 3300 pounds, not 4600 as shown in your screen capture. If the software is using the vehicle weight to calculate various performance stats, it's going to be pretty far off.

Damnit! You are right. I must have accidently put another 1000 lbs by accident. I guess that is going to make the results worse?
I used the G-Tech Pro Competition. I don't think the other one has a way to display the results on the computer.
I'll do another run and post the results.

damnit! thanks alot. now i wanna trade my g-tech for the newer ones. i heard you can interface it onto a pc. nice. i wonder if they have a trade in or buy back deal. hmmm.
yeah you should be gettin better numbers once you drop the weight to the right #'s. i'de see about gettin a vtec controller too. i saw someone selling a nice guage one on here that also did fuel control too. that might help out some.

I personally don't want to do anything to the CRV. Once the warrenty is up, then I'll be hooking it up. If there was something I can do that reversable, then I might think about it. I have a VTEC controller in my civic and you have to splice wires. I'm not down for that in my CRV.

My mom has owned a '97 and '99 and an '02. The '02 is WORLDS better, faster and quicker than both versions of the 1G (B20B4 and B20Z2 motors). I'm one of the biggest fans of the B-series motor, but they don't serve too well in SUV duty. In my opinion, the '97's performance was "acceptable" at best, with the '99 being marginally better (especially at highway speeds given that the 500 additional RPM allowed it to hang onto lower gears a bit longer when passing). The '02 was much quicker than either of those 2 as well as being smoother and quieter. I'm a huge fan of the B-series motors, but they just don't serve too well in SUV duty -- they never seemed to relax. The K24 in the '02 was MUCH more up to the task.
FWIW, the '97 topped out at 100MPH (at which speed it sounded and looked as if the front windows were going to be sucked out of their tracks). The '99 hit 105 and for some reason felt quite a bit more composed than the '97 did, despite being essentially the same (except for the motors). Never got a chance to top out the '02, but I can tell you that whatever its top speed it would have gotten there years before either of the B-series powered ones.

just by those numbers the 3rd gen is faster. look at how much torque it has, thats pretty impressive.....now imagine if they made it a 2.6 or 2.7 liter? mmmm

The 2.4L engine is smooth with a great torque curve. In my opinion, it's night and day difference betwween a '98 CRV and an '04. The 2.4 is going to be a great 4 cyl for Honda. I bet most people could not tell the difference between this engine in an '04 Accord and the 6 cyl in a '00 Accord.

how do you top out at only 105 in the 142hp crv? i just dont think its too safe to run faster then 110. i my self topped at about 110... that's running out of road, on top of that, turns coming up.
anyways, i i personally think if honda wants to stand out in that mini suv market, they should just use the 200hp version of the k24. that'll be more hp then the explorer.. and you know how the market is.. hp means everything.. but they don't understand that i-vtec doesn't worry about hp
